Tips & Help

Thank you for choosing DROPS Design!

We do our best to make our patterns easy to follow.

For that purpose, each of our patterns has specific tutorial videos to help you, which you will find at the bottom of the page.

We have also step-by-step lessons to help you understand some of the techniques we use in our patterns. You'll find them here!

NOTE: This pattern is written in British English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from cm to inches - click here. There are different terms for crocheting in British and American English. If this pattern includes crochet, click for "crochet terms" here. For this pattern in American English, please click here.
GARTER ST (worked in the round):
1 ridge = 2 rounds. * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*.

GARTER ST (back and forth):
K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.

See diagram A.1 (choose diagram for correct size). Work entire pattern in stocking st.

Inc 1 st by making 1 YO, on next round K YO twisted to avoid holes.

Worked in the round from the toe and backwards, then worked back and forth over heel. Sew tog mid back and mid front on toe at the end.

Cast on 20 sts on double pointed needles size 4.5 mm with light grey. K 1 round and insert 1 marker in first st and in 11th st (= sides). Continue in stocking st AT THE SAME TIME on next round inc 1 st on each side of both markers (= 4 sts inc on round) - READ INCREASE TIP! Repeat inc in each side every other round 2-3-4 more times = 32-36-40 sts. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION Continue in the round with light grey until piece measures 5 cm. Then work in the round according to A.1 (= 2 repetitions in width - choose diagram for correct size). When A.1 is done vertically, work 2 ridges in GARTER ST in the round - see explanation above, with deep red - AT THE SAME TIME insert a marker mid on top of foot after the first 8-9-10 sts. Cut the yarn.

Cast on 9-10-11 sts on double pointed needles size 4.5 mm with deep red. Work in GARTER ST back and forth - see explanation above - for 8-10-12 cm.

NOTE: Continue in garter st with deep red until finished measurements.
Now slip flap tog with slipper, i.e. work like this 9-10-11 sts (= flap), continue from after marker (= mid on top of foot) and work over all sts (= 32-36-40 sts), cast on 9-10-11 sts at the end of row = 50-56-62 sts. Work in garter st back and forth. Cast off when slipper measures approx. 22-24-26 cm (let the yarn end be approx. 20 cm, this is used for assembly).

Fold cast-off edge double and sew tog mid back - sew in edge sts to avoid a chunky seam.
Sew tog hole at the front of toe with grafting/kitchener stitches in light grey. Place flap outside of slipper along edge, and fasten 1 decorative button through both layers. Sew tog hole mid on top of foot by sewing flap to foot with neat little stitches.

Work as left slipper but cast on sts at the beg of row and work flap at the end of row - NOTE: Make sure that flap is the correct way so that ridges fit the slipper.

= light grey
= deep red
