GARTER ST (in the round on double pointed needles/circular needle):
* K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. 1 ridge = 2 rounds.

DECREASE TIP (applies to body):
Dec as follows before marker (beg 4 sts before marker): K 2 tog, 2 sts in stocking st.
Dec as follows after marker: 2 sts in stocking st, slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, psso.

See diagram A.1-A.2 - see diagram for your size.

Worked in the round on circular needle.
Cast on 144-158-178-192-208-226 sts on circular needle size 4 mm with Nepal. Insert 1 marker at beg of round and one marker after 72-79-89-96-104-113 sts (= the sides). Work 3 ridges in GARTER ST - see explanation above. Switch to circular needle size 5 mm and continue in stocking st. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION When piece measures 8 cm, dec 1 st on each side both markers (= 4 sts dec) - READ DECREASE TIP! Repeat dec every 8-9-10-9-10-10 cm 3 more times (= 4 times in total) = 128-142-162-176-192-210 sts. When piece measures 36-38-40-38-40-42 cm, cast off for armholes in each side as follows: Cast off the first 4 sts on round, work until 4 sts remain before the other marker, cast off the next 8 sts, work until 4 sts remain, cast off these 4 sts = 56-63-73-80-88-97 sts remain on back and front piece. Put piece aside and knit the sleeves.

Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 36-38-40-42-44-46 sts on double pointed needles size 4 mm with Nepal. Work 3 ridges in GARTER ST - see explanation above. Switch to double pointed needles size 5 mm. Insert 1 marker at beg of round (= mid under sleeve). Continue in stocking st. AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 8 cm, inc 1 st on each side of marker by K 2 sts in the st before and after the marker. Repeat inc every 3½-3-3-2½-2½-2½ cm 9-10-10-11-12-12 more times (= 10-11-11-12-13-13 times in total) = 56-60-62-66-70-72 sts. When piece measures 44-45-45-42-42-43 cm, cast off 8 sts mid under sleeve (i.e. cast off 4 sts on each side of marker) = 48-52-54-58-62-64 sts remain on needle. Put piece aside and knit another sleeve.

Slip sleeves on to same circular needle size 5 mm as body AT THE SAME TIME dec 1-0-1-0-1-0 sts on round = 207-230-253-276-299-322 sts. Then work as follows: * A.1, A.2 *, repeat from *-* 9-10-11-12-13-14 times. See diagram for size! After first cable in A.1, there are 225-250-275-300-325-350 sts on needle. Continue pattern and dec in A.2, when A.1/A.2 have been worked 1 time vertically, there are 117-130-143-156-169-182 sts on needle. Work 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME dec 27-34-41-48-55-62 sts evenly = 90-96-102-108-114-120 sts.
Then work an elevation at the back of neck as follows in stocking st, insert 1 marker mid back, cut the yarn and beg here: K 7 sts past marker mid back, turn, tighten yarn and P 14 sts back, turn, tighten yarn and K 21 sts, turn, tighten yarn and P 28 sts back. Continue like this - work 7 sts more on every turn until a total of 56-56-56-70-70-70 sts have been worked, turn and K 1 round until mid back again. Switch to circular needle size 4 mm. Work 2 ridges. Cast off with K.

Hei.

Bon tricot!

Marjorie 13.04.2017 - 17:03:

Hi, I have almost completed the pattern 166-9 only to find I appear to have too many stitches...at the stage of 117sts, I have 135. After much checking back over the pattern, it all looks fine. Even including final round of decreases, 27sts evenly I will still have 18 too many. I look forward to your comment and suggestion. Many thanks.

DROPS Design 18.04.2017 kl. 09:06:

Dear Marjorie, you should have 6 sts in each A.1 and 7 sts in each A.2 on last round of diagrams, so that you get: (7+6) x 9 = 117 sts. Happy knitting!

Jennifer Douglas 26.10.2016 - 13:55:

Hello I'm afraid this is still not clear. I evetually worked out that in order to have A1 centred on the front, as shown on the model, I needed to start at the point where the front joined the sleeve and start 3 stitches in from right edge of A2. So there were effectively 14 stitches in the first A2 section of the pattern. I then had 14; 6(8); 17; 6(8); 17; 6(8); 14 = 80.

Jennifer Douglas 23.10.2016 - 10:33:

I have put all the stitches from body and sleeves on to one needle. At what point do I start the A1/A2 pattern? Do I start at centre back or at the point where the sleeve meets the body?

DROPS Design 24.10.2016 kl. 11:55:

Dear Mrs Douglas, slip all sts on to same circular needle and work 1 round dec 0-1 st evenly (see size), then work A.1 and A.2 on next round. Start between body and sleeve. Happy knitting!

Grit 18.10.2016 - 14:23:

Bon tricot!
