Knitting tension: 20 sts x 26 rows on needles size 4.5 mm with Karisma in Stocking sts = 10 x 10 cm.

Rib: *K2, P2*, repeat from *-*

Pattern: See diagram M.1. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS.

Front piece: Cast on 46-54-58-66 sts (incl 1 edge st each side) on needle size 4.5 mm with Karisma. Change to needle size 3.5 mm and knit in Rib with 1 edge st each side. When piece measures 2 cm knit 2 rows of garter sts. Change to needle size 4.5 mm and continue in stocking sts. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 5-6-7-8 cm knit next row from the RS as follows: 1 edge st, 16-20-22-26 sts of stocking sts, M.1 (= 12 sts), 16-20-22-26 sts of stocking sts and 1 edge st. Continue the pattern. After M.1 finish piece in stocking sts. At the same time when piece measures 15-16-17-18 cm cast off for armhole each side on every other row: 3 sts 1 times, 2 sts 1-2-2-3 times and 1 st 3-2-2-2 times. At the same time when piece measures 19-21-22-24 cm cast off the middle 10-12-12-14 sts for neck and dec to shape the neckline on every other row: 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 2 times = 6-8-10-11 sts left for each shoulder.

Right shoulder (when worn): Cast off all sts when piece measures 24-26-28-30 cm (button band to be added later).

Left shoulder: Cast off all sts when piece measures 25-27-29-31 cm.

Back piece: Cast on and knit as done for front piece, but do not knit the pattern. Cast off for armholes as done for front piece =30-36-40-44 sts. Continue until piece measures 23-25-27-29 cm. Then cast off the middle 16-18-18-20 sts for neck and dec 1 st towards the neck on next row = 6-8-10-11 sts left for the shoulder.

Right shoulder (when worn): Cast off all sts when the piece measures 24-26-28-30 cm (buttonhole band to be added later).
Left shoulder: Cast off all sts when the piece measures 25-27-29-31 cm.

Assembly:
Left armhole (when worn).: Sew the left shoulder seam. Pick up 46-62 sts (divisible with 4 +2) from the RS along the left armhole on needles size 3.5 mm with Karisma. Knit 2 rows of garter sts beginning from the WS and continue with 5 rows of Rib with 1 edge st each side. Cast off loosely with K over K and P over P. Sew the left side seam up to the edge of the armhole.

Right armhole: Sew the side seam. Pick up 42-54 sts (divisible with 4 + 2) from the top of the shoulder along the right armhole: on needle size 3.5 mm with Karisma. Knit 2 rows of garter sts beginning from the WS edge and continue with 5 rows of Rib with 1 edge st each side. Cast off loosely with K mover K and P over P.

Neck: Pick up 54-66 sts (divisible with 4+2) (from the right shoulder) around the neck on needle size 3.5 mm with Karisma: Knit 2 rows of garter sts beginning from the WS and continue with 5 rows of Rib with 1 edge st each side. Cast off with K over K and P over P.

Shoulder band-back piece: Pick up 16 – 24 sts (divisible with 4) along the right shoulder on the back piece (also pick up over the neck and armhole edge) on needle size 3.5 mm with Karisma. Knit 5 rows of Rib with 1 edge st in garter sts and 2 K sts each side (seen from the RS). Then knit 2 rows of garter sts beginning from the RS. Cast off.

Shoulder band-front piece: Knit as done for the back, but after 1 cm cast off for 3 buttonholes evenly distributed, 1 buttonhole = cast off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts over the cast off sts on the returning row. Sew on the buttons to the shoulder band.

Martha 02.02.2017 - 22:14:

How do we work the edge stitch? We knit all rows? Or do we work normally in stockinette?

DROPS Design 03.02.2017 kl. 09:16:

Dear Martha, you can work the edge sts in stockinette. Happy knitting!

Maria Sullivan 17.09.2015 - 23:24:

There seems to be an error in the pattern which says "2 rows or stockinette stitch "after the rib at the start of front and back, but says "2 rows of garter stitch" around the rib on the armholes and neck. On the photograph shown seems to show garter stitch for all. Unfortunately I had finished the front and back before I noticed this.

Selam 08.08.2015 - 19:38:

Can this been knitted in the round?

DROPS Design 10.08.2015 kl. 10:20:

Dear Selam, you can work this in the round to armhole, just adapt number of sts (no edge sts for seam). Happy knitting!

Estelle Hargreaves 06.07.2014 - 09:55:

I cannot understand why you need to increase 1 stitch in thirds size 58 stitches 22,12,22 equals 56 plus 2 edge stitches!

DROPS Design 07.07.2014 kl. 08:36:

Dear Mrs Hargreaves, in 3rd size, you cast on 58 sts, and work them as follows: 1 edge st, 22 sts in stocking st, M1 (= 12 sts), 22 sts in stocking st, 1 edge st = 58 sts. Happy knitting!

Mierer Christa 06.04.2014 - 10:57:
