Moss stitches: 1st row: * K1, P1 *, repeat *-*. 2nd row: K over P and P over K. Repeat 2nd row.
Garter stitch: Knit all rows back and forth on needle.

Hat: Remember the knitting tension! The hat is knitted back and forth from top and down and sewn tog mid back. Cast on 6-8 sts on needles 7 mm with 1 thread Eskimo. Work in garter stitch – see explanation above. At the same time on 1st row knit 2 sts in every st = 12-16 sts. Continue to inc 6 sts evenly distributed on every other row a total of 7 times = 54-58 sts. Work in garter stitch until piece measures 9 cm, then continue with moss stitch – see explanation above - and with 2 threads Eskimo. When piece measures 22 cm knit following row like this: knit 18-20 st, bind off 18-18 st (center mid front), knit remaining 18-20 st = 36-40 m. Continue each side seperately. When piece measures 24 cm cast off 6-7 sts towards mid back = 12-13 sts remains for ear flap.
Earflap: = 12-13 sts. Continue with moss stitches and 2 threads Eskimo. At the same time dec 1 st in every side on every 6th row a total of 5 times = 2-3 sts. Cast off, the earflap measures approx 18 cm. Knit the other earflap the same way.
Assembly: Sew tog the hat mid back. Sew in the outermost stitch loops.

Crocheted edge: Crochet with 2 threads Puddel and needle size 9 mm. Crochet like this around the edge of the hat: 1 dc, * 2 ch, skip approx 2 cm, 1 dc *, repeat *-*.
Along center mid front on hat crochet a peak like this:
1st row: 2 dtr in every ch-loop.
2nd-4th row: 1 dtr in every dtr.
Fold up the peak and sew on with Puddel.

Braids: Cut 3 strands approx 50 cm long in Eskimo. Fold strands double and cable with 6 threads. Make a knot at end on cable, and sew cable at the bottom of earflap.
