DROPS Cable Sweater, gloves and scarf in “Alaska” Long and short version.

Size: Small ( Medium-Large)

Materials: DROPS Alaska from Garnstudio
1000 (1100-1100) g in col no 46, rust.

DROPS Circular Needles, long (80cm): 3,5mm and 5mm
DROPS Circular Needles, short (40cm): 3,5mm and 5mm
Or the size needed to obtain the correct knitting tension.

Knitting Tension: 17sts x 21 rows in moss st on needles size 5 mm = 10x10cm.

Pattern instructions

Rib: *K2, P2*.

Ridge: = 2 rounds. 1st round: K. 2nd round: P. Repeat rounds 1 and 2.

Moss stitch: Worked over 4 rounds: 1st round: K1, P1. 2nd round: work K over K and P over P. P1, K1. 3rd round: work K over P and P over K. 4th round: work K over K and P over P. Repeat rounds 1-4.

Short version: Body: Cast on 14 sts less and inc 14 sts more after the rib. Reduce measurements for sleeve, neck and casting off edge by 12 cm. Length= 58-60-63 cm. Yarn requirement is reduced by approx 100 g.

Pattern: See diagram (1 diagram = 1 repeat). Pattern is read from right to left, and is seen from RS.

Back and Front knitted as one piece in the round, then divided at armhole and back and front knitted separately.

Body: Cast on 168 (172-176) sts on long circ needle size 3.5mm with rust. Work 1 ridge then 5cm rib, and at the same time inc 36 (44-52) sts evenly on last round = 204 (216-228) sts. Change to circ needle size 5 mm. Continue as follows on next round: 39 (42-45) sts moss st, M.1, (=centre front), 78 (84-90) sts moss st, M.1 (centre back), 39 (42-45) sts moss st. Remember to check your tension. Continue in pattern until piece measures 41 (42-45) cm. Continue as follows: Cast off 2 sts for arm hole, work 98 (104-110) sts for front, cast off 4 sts for armhole, work 98 (104-110) sts for back, cast off 2 sts for arm hole. Front and back will now be finished separately.

Front: = 98 (104-110) sts. Dec for armhole on every other row as follows:
2 sts 2(2-2) times, 1 st 1 (1-3) times = 88 (94-96) sts. Continue until piece measures 65 (67-70) cm. Cast off centre 36 (38-38) sts for neck. Decrease at neck edge on every other row, 2 sts once, 1 sts twice. Continue until piece measures 70(72-75) cm. Cast off.

Back: = 98 (104-110) sts. Dec for armhole as on front = 88 (94-96) sts. Continue until piece measures 68 (70-73) cm. Cast off centre 40 (42-42) sts for neck. Dec each side of neck edge on every other row as follows: 1 st twice. Continue until piece measures 70(72-75) cm. Cast off.

Sleeves: Cast on 36 (40-40) sts on short circ needle size 3.5mm with rust. Work 1 ridge, 5 cm rib, 2 ridges and at the same time inc 20 (16-18) sts evenly on last round = 56 (56-58) sts. Change to circ needle size 5 mm and continue as follows on next round: 16 (16-17) sts moss st, M.1, 16(16-17) sts moss st. Continue in pattern and at the same time inc underneath sleeve 2 sts 24(26-25) times for S: alternatively on every *3rd and 4th round*, M+L: every 3rd round = 104 (108-108) sts. – working the inc stitches in moss stitch as you proceed. Continue until piece measures 48 (47-47) cm.
Cast off centre 6 sts under arm, finishing knitting back and forth. Dec on every other row each side as follows: 5 sts 3 times.
Piece measures approx 52 (51-51) cm. Cast off.

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx 96 sts around neck on short circ needle size 3,5mm with rust. Work 2 ridges, 6 cm rib, 2 ridges. Cast off. Sew in sleeves.



SCARF AND GLOVES:

Materials: DROPS Karisma Superwash from Garnstudio
350 g col no 48, wine - for scarf
100 g col no 48, wine - for gloves.

DROPS needle size 4mm for scarf
DROPS double pointed needle 2.5mm and 3mm for gloves.

Knitting Tension: 22sts x 32 rows in stocking st on needles size 3 mm = 10x10cm. 20sts x 26 rows in M.5 on needles size 4 mm = 10x10cm.

Rib: *K1, P1*.

M.5: 1st row: K. 2nd row: K1, P1. Repeat rows 1 and 2.
Moss st: 1st row: K1, P1. 2nd row: work K over P and P over K. Repeat rows 1 and 2.

Scarf:
Cast on 70 sts on needle size 4mm with wine ands work 3 rows moss st. Next row: Work 3 sts moss st, 64 sts M.5 (see description), 3 sts moss st.
Continue in pattern until piece measures 150cm. Finish with 3 rows in moss st. Cast off. Make 4 tassels and fasten one in each corner of scarf with a piece of twisted yarn.

Gloves:
Cast on 54 (58) sts on double pointed needles size 2.5mm with wine and work 2 cm stocking st.
Next row: * K2tog, yo* (=fold), 2 cm stocking st.
Work 5 cm rib and at the same time inc 12 (12) sts evenly on 1st round = 42 (46) sts.
Inc 2 (2) sts evenly on last round of rib = 44 (48) sts.
Change to double pointed needles size 3mm.
Remember to check your tension.
Next row: work 22 (24) sts in M.5 (see description)( = on top of hand), 1 st in stocking st for thumb (put a marker here), 21 (23) sts stocking st, 2 sts stocking st (= palm of hand). Take measurements from this point. Work 1 cm then inc for thumb each side of the 1 st (at marker) as follows: 1 st 5 (6) times on every 4th (3rd) round = 54 (60) sts, working the inc sts in stocking st.
Place centre 11 sts over the thumb on a thread and put 1 new st over these on the next round = 44 (50) sts. Continue until glove measures 10 (11) cm.
Next work fingers as follows: Little finger: pick up 4 (6) sts of M.5 (continue in M.5) and 4 (5) sts stocking st (continue stocking st) and cast on 1 st between fingers (work these sts in stocking st) = 9 (12) sts. Work 5 (6) cm.
Next row: K2tog entire round. Pull yarn through remaining sts twice.
Work 3 rounds over the remaining sts before rest of fingers.
Ring finger: pick up 6 (6) sts of M.5 (continue in M.5) and 6 (7) sts stocking st (continue stocking st) and cast on 1 st between fingers (work these sts in stocking st) = 14 (15) sts. Work 6 (7) cm. Next row: K2tog entire round. Pull yarn through remaining sts twice. Middle finger: as ring finger but work 7 (8) cm. Index finger: pick up 6 (6) sts of M.5 (continue in M.5) and 6 (7) sts stocking st (continue stocking st) and cast on 1 st between fingers (work these sts in stocking st) = 13 (14) sts. Work as ring finger.
Thumb: Pick up 14 (16) sts around thumb and work 6 (6.5) cm. Dec as on ring finger. Sew a stitch between each finger.
