Question on yarn. The quantity of yarn listed is the same for the Wish(discontinued) and the Air, which needs to be double stranded. Should I order twice the quantity of the Air?
13.01.2025 - 01:59DROPS Design answered:
Dear Jan, the amount of yarn is counted with yarn worked double - the difference is in the meterage of each ball (Wish was shorter than Air in meterage). Happy knitting!

Okay, just one more question. It looks as if most of the colors of Drops Wish has been discontinued, besides using the Drops Air, what yarn would be a good substitute for the Drops Wish? Thanks again
12.01.2024 - 20:20DROPS Design answered:
Dear Diane, to get the same texture you can only use DROPS Air. You could use other group E yarns, like DROPS Snow and DROPS Andes but the texture will be slightly different. Happy knitting!

So, does the amount of yarn yardage include using Drops Air account for using two strands- in other words, I wouldn't have to buy twice as much as listed for size. Thank you, Diane
12.01.2024 - 14:07DROPS Design answered:
Dear Diane, correct, the yarn amount in DROPS Air includes the use of 2 strands for the pattern. Just remember - as always - to check your tension. Happy knitting!

I notice that this pattern has two yarn that can be used-group E (drops wish) and group C + C (Drops Air). What is meant by Group C+C? Does that mean two strands of yarn is used? Thanks, Diane
11.01.2024 - 23:08DROPS Design answered:
Hi Diane, Yes, C + C means using 2 strands of a yarn from group C is equivalent to one strand of a yarn from group E. Happy crafting!

Hi I love the look of this pattern (snowman Time Seater) I have read the pattern and am confused. I should like to knit for my daughter and will be using the XXXL pattern, when starting it says cast on 72 st and work for 13 cm cast of 0, then when starting for the yolk, it says 72 st, which is what I have, there is no mention of any increase and yet to work 12 times of A.1, I need 192 st. where do I increase to get these stitches, I look forward to your reply, thanks Carol
15.07.2023 - 12:23DROPS Design answered:
Hi Carol, you start A.1 from the bottom (6 stitches x 12 repeats = 72 stitches). Then all the increases are done gradually in the pattern (yarn overs in A.1). When A.1 has been worked vertically, there are 192 stitches on needle. Happy knitting!

Choose diagram for your size. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. DECREASE TIP (applies to mid under sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread and knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work double neck edge and yoke in the round on circular needle from mid back, top down. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. Work body in the round on circular needle, top down. Work sleeves in the round on double pointed needles/a short circular needle. DOUBLE NECK EDGE: Cast on 60-60-64-68-68-72 stitches on short circular needle size 6 mm with colour grey beige in DROPS Wish or 2 strands DROPS Air beige. Work rib (knit 2/purl 2) over all stitches When rib measures 13 cm, knit 1 round while at the same time decreasing 6-0-4-2-2-0 stitches evenly = 54-60-60-66-66-72 stitches. YOKE: Switch to circular needle size 8 mm. Insert 1 marker at beginning of round, measure yoke from this marker! Work A.1 9-10-10-11-11-12 times in total in the round on yoke. When A.1 has been worked vertically, piece measures approx. 17-17-17-20-20-20 cm from marker , and there are 144-160-160-176-176-192 stitches on needle. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Continue with colour grey beige and stocking stitch. AT THE SAME TIME on round after A.1, increase 8-8-13-13-15-15 stitches evenly = 152-168-173-189-191-207 stitches. Increase is done in size S and M. SIZE L, XL, XXL and XXXL: When piece measures 20-22-23-24 cm, increase 11-7-21-21 stitches evenly = 184-196-212-228 stitches. ALL SIZES: = 152-168-184-196-212-228 stitches. Work without increases until piece measures 21-23-24-26-28-30 cm. Now divide piece for body and sleeves. Work next round as follows: Work 23-26-28-30-33-36 stitches in stocking stitch (half back piece), slip the next 30-32-36-38-40-42 stitches on a stitch holder for sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 new stitches on row (in the side under sleeve), work 46-52-56-60-66-72 stitches in stocking stitch (front piece), slip the next 30-32-36-38-40-42 stitches on a stitch holder for sleeve, 6-6-6-8-8-8 new stitches on row (in the side under sleeve) and work the last 23-26-28-30-33-36 stitches in stocking stitch (= half back piece). Then finish body and sleeves separately. Now measure piece from here. BODY: = 104-116-124-136-148-160 stitches. Continue with colour grey beige / beige and stocking stitch. Work until piece measures 20-20-21-21-21-21 cm from division. Knit 1 round while increasing 28-36-36-40-44-48 stitches evenly = 132-152-160-176-192-208 stitches. Switch to circular needle size 6 mm. Work rib (knit 2/purl 2) for 11 cm. Cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. Jumper measures approx. 56-58-60-62-64-66 cm from shoulder and down. SLEEVES: Slip the 30-32-36-38-40-42 stitches from thread in one side of piece on a short circular needle/double pointed needles size 8 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches cast on in the side under sleeve = 36-38-42-46-48-50 stitches. Insert a marker thread in the middle of the new stitches (= 3-3-3-4-4-4 new stitches on each side of marker thread). Move the marker thread upwards when working; it should be used for decrease mid under sleeve. Begin at the marker thread, use colour grey beige and work stocking stitch in the round. When sleeve measures 4 cm from division, decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread - read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this approx. every 12-10-7-5-4-4 cm 3-3-4-5-5-5 times in total = 30-32-34-36-38-40 stitches. Work until sleeve measures 30-29-28-26-25-23 cm from division – or desired length (approx. 11 cm remain until finished measurements). Knit 1 round while increasing 10-8-10-8-10-12 stitches evenly = 40-40-44-44-48-52 stitches. Switch to double pointed needles size 6 mm. Work rib (knit 2/purl 2) in the round for 11 cm. Cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sleeve measures approx. 41-40-39-37-36-34 cm from division. Work the other sleeve the same way. ASSEMBLY: Fold rib at the top of neck down on inside of garment. Fasten rib to get a double neck edge. To avoid a tight neck edge that sticks out it is important to keep the seam elastic. EMBROIDER NOSES: Embroider noses on the snowmen with French nots in colour tabasco- see diagram A1 and A. |
