I think I've found an error in this pattern, but am surprised that nobody has complained before, so I just want to check I understand the pattern correctly. Where it says: Work 8-10-12 ridges, K 2 sts in first st on every row from RS = 38-41-45 sts. Work next row as follows from RS: K 2 sts in first st, 37-40-44 sts If I knit 2 sts in first st, I should increase 1 st and thus obtain 39-42-46 sts. Does this mean I should decrease instead, that is work a k2tog? Thank you for your help.

Dear Claudia, you work like this: K 2 sts in first st, 37-40-44 sts, pick up 1 st in every ridge along short side at the end of row (= 8-10-12 sts), work the last 41-47-53 sts back on needle, AT THE SAME TIME K the last 2 sts from stitch holder tog 2 + 37-40-44 + 8-10-12 + 41-47-53 -1= 87-98-110 sts. Hope this helps. Happy knitting!

Hi, Could you knit both socks the same , as it’s garter stitch, but sew together one side the right way and the other reversed?
10.06.2020 - 09:19DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs White, this might work but rather work the 2nd sock mirrored to get a 2nd slipper as explained. Happy knitting!

I dont understand what to do with this: ``pick up 1 st in every ridge along short side at the end of row (= 8-10-12 sts)`` help! ;0) Maude
01.02.2020 - 16:26DROPS Design answered:
Dear Maude, at the end of this row you will have to pick up 1 stitch in each ridge at the end of this row (= on the left side, seen from RS), ie there are 8-10-12 ridges (see size), pick up 1 stitch in each ridge = 8-10-12 sts are picked up, and now work the stitches from thread/stitch holder. Happy knitting!

04.09.2019 - 19:36DROPS Design answered:
Dear Cristina, to make the left sock reversed you will now slip the first 41-47-53 sts seen from RS. Happy knitting!

Where you say knit 2 stitches in first stitch , do you mean there will be 3 stitches , the original stitch plus 2 stitches or just make 1 stitch
27.05.2019 - 23:17DROPS Design answered:
Hi Beverley, You will increase 1 stitch by knitting 2 stitches in 1 stitch. Happy knitting!

Knitted DROPS socks in garter st in ”Big Delight”. Worked diagonally. Size: 35-43.
DROPS 171-40 |
|
GARTER ST (back and forth): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. DECREASE TIP: K 2 tog. ---------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Entire sock is worked in garter st and sewn tog when finished. RIGHT SOCK: Cast on 63-68-74 sts on circular needle size 4 mm with Big Delight. Work in GARTER ST - see explanation above - AT THE SAME TIME work 2 sts in first st on every row from RS. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION When 8-10-12 ridges have been worked, there are 71-78-86 sts on needle. Slip the last 41-47-53 sts (seen from RS) on a stitch holder, now only work over the first 30-31-33 sts. Work 8-10-12 ridges, K 2 sts in first st on every row from RS = 38-41-45 sts. Work next row as follows from RS: K 2 sts in first st, 37-40-44 sts, pick up 1 st in every ridge along short side at the end of row (= 8-10-12 sts), work the last 41-47-53 sts back on needle, AT THE SAME TIME K the last 2 sts from stitch holder tog = 87-98-110 sts. Continue in garter st, on every row from RS K 2 sts in first st and dec 1 st at the end of row – READ DECREASE TIP. Repeat dec and inc 4-5-6 times in total = 87-98-110 sts. Work next row as follows from RS: Work 37-40-44 sts, K 2 tog, K 39-45-51, K the next 2 tog, turn and tighten the thread (7-9-11 sts remain on row), * K 39-45-51, K the next 2 tog, (37-40-44 sts remain on row) turn, tighten the thread and K 39-45-51, K the next 2 tog (6-8-10 sts remain on row), turn and tighten the thread *, repeat from *-* 6-8-10 more times - now no sts remain at the end of row (seen from RS), on last row from WS work the last 30-31-33 sts back on needle. Then work over all sts = 71-78-86 sts. Continue in garter st, work 2 sts in first st on row and dec 1 st at the end of every row from RS, work 4-5-6 ridges like this (no of sts stay the same). Cast off. ASSEMBLY: Beg in left side of piece. Sew the last 8-10-12 sts from cast-off edge tog with the first 8-10-12 ridges worked in the left side, sew 1 st from cast-off edge tog with 1 ridge. Then sew the rest of sts from cast-off edge tog with sts from cast-on edge. Sew opening at the front of sock (= toes). LEFT SOCK: Cast on and work as right sock but reversed, i.e. what was done from RS on right sock is now done on WS and vice versa. |
