I am assuming all the diagrams are read from top to bottom. According to the directions, Row 1 is RS so all odd rows will also be RS. The cables (counting rows from top to bottom) are on even numbered rows. Is the cable really supposed to be knit on the WS of the work? Thanks.

Hoi Ankie. Gr. Tine

I think this pattern is just beautiful. It would also look good in pastel colors too, or a solid red or royal blue.

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. PATTERN: See diagram M.1, M.2 and M.3 – pattern in diagrams is seen from RS – there are 17 rows between each cable in M.1 and M.3. ---------------------------------------------------------- PONCHO: Worked back and forth on circular needle, from top down and sewn tog mid back afterwards. LOOSELY cast on 86-86-86 sts on circular needle size 6 mm with 2 threads Kid-Silk. Continue as follows (first row = RS): 2 GARTER STS – see above, M.1 (= 16 sts), P1, K2, P2, K2, P1, M.1, 2 garter sts, M.3 (= 16 sts), P1, K2, P2, K2, P1, M.3 and 2 garter sts. Continue like this for 6 cm. Now continue as follows (from RS): 2 garter sts, M.1, M.2, M.1, 2 garter sts, M.3, M.2, M.3 and 2 garter sts. Continue like this - when M.2 is completed continue to inc in the same way until there are a total of 254-286-318 sts on needle – piece measures approx 50-59-67 cm. Cast off LOOSELY with K over K and P over P – make sure there is at least 12 rows after a cable (you may have to work extra rows without inc to get this). ASSEMBLY: Sew poncho tog mid back, edge to edge. |
