------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CROCHET INFORMATION: The first treble crochet on each row is replaced by 3 chain stitches. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 treble crochet by working 2 treble crochets together as follows: Work 1 treble crochet in the first stitch but wait with the last pull-through, work 1 treble crochet in the next stitch and pull the last yarn-over through all 3 loops on the hook. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The body is worked back and forth, bottom up as far as the armholes, then divided for the front and back pieces which are finished separately. The sleeves are worked bottom up, back and forth then sewn together. All the pieces are sewn together to finish. BODY: The piece is worked back and forth from mid-front. Work 175-187-204-225-244-264 chain stitches (including 3 chain stitches on each side to turn with), using crochet hook size 5 mm and DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk. Work as follows: 1 treble crochet in the 4th chain stitch from the hook, then 1 treble crochet in each of the next 3-3-2-5-6-2 chain stitches * skip 1 chain stitch, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 5 chain stitches *, work from *-* to end of row = 145-155-169-187-203-219 treble crochet (the first 3 chain stitches = 1 treble crochet). Read CROCHET INFORMATION! Insert 1 marker, 37-40-43-48-52-56 treble crochets in from each side (= 71-75-83-91-99-107 treble crochets between markers on the back piece). Continue according to diagram A.1 as follows: A.1A across the first 2 treble crochets, A.1B until there are 3 treble crochets left, A.1C. The 3 outermost treble crochets on each side = bands. Repeat the 3 rows in the diagram to finished length. Remember to maintain the crochet tension. When the piece measures 15 cm, decrease 1 treble crochet on each side of both markers, decreasing either on the first or third row in the diagram by working 2 treble crochets together – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 5 cm a total of 7 times = 117-127-141-159-175-191 treble crochets. The piece measures approx. 45 cm. Now increase for the collar at the same time as dividing for the armholes. Read the next 3 sections before continuing. COLLAR: When the piece measures 46-47-48-49-50-51 cm, begin increasing for the shawl collar on the next row by working 2 treble crochets in the next-outermost treble crochet. Increase every row a total of 6 times, then every 2nd row 2 times. The increased stitches are worked in treble crochet. After all the increases there are 11 treble crochets on each side of the lace pattern in row 2 of the diagram A.1. ARMHOLES: AT THE SAME TIME when the piece measures 53-54-55-56-57-58 cm, divide for the armholes and finish the back and front pieces separately. FIRST FRONT PIECE: Work until there are 2-3-3-4-5-6 treble crochets left before the marker, turn and work back. When all the collar-increases are finished, there are 36-38-41-45-48-51 stitches left. Continue the pattern until the piece measures 72-74-76-78-80-82 cm, with the next row from mid-front. The outermost 19-20-23-26-29-32 stitches towards the armhole = shoulder (do not continue working across these stitches). Work 4 rows of treble crochets across the 17-18-18-19-19-19 stitches mid-front (= collar). Then work the next row as follows from mid-front: 1 treble crochet in each of the first 10 treble crochets, * 1 half-treble crochet in the next treble crochet, 1 double crochet in the next treble crochet and 1 slip stitch in the next treble crochet, turn with 1 chain stitch. Skip the slip stitch, work 1 slip stitch in the double crochet, 1 double crochet in the half-treble crochet, 1 half-treble crochet in the first treble crochet, then treble crochets to end of row *. Turn and work 1 treble crochet in each of the first 6 treble crochets, work from *-* 1 more time. Cut the strand. SECOND FRONT PIECE: Work in the same way as the first front piece but in reverse. BACK PIECE: Continue the pattern across the middle 53-55-63-69-75-81 treble crochets (4-6-6-8-10-12 treble crochets on each side = armhole). When the piece measures 70-72-74-76-78-80 cm, work 1 row across the outermost 19-20-23-26-29-32 treble crochets on each side (the middle 15-15-17-17-17-17 treble crochets = neckline). Cut the strand. SLEEVES: The piece is worked back and forth then sewn together. Work 40-43-43-45-45-48 chain stitches (including 3 chain stitches on each side to turn with), using crochet hook size 5 mm and DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk. Turn and work 1 treble crochet in the 4th chain stitch from the hook. Continue with 1 treble crochet in each of the next 6-3-3-5-5-2 chain stitches, * skip 1 chain stitch, work 1 treble crochet in each of the next 5 chain stitches *, work from *-* to end of row = 33-35-35-37-37-39 treble crochets – remember CROCHET INFORMATION! Continue according to diagram A.1b, finishing with 1 treble crochet in the last treble crochet. When A.1 has been worked 3 times in height, continue with treble crochets to finished length. When the piece measures 10 cm, increase 1 treble crochet on each side by working 2 treble crochets in the outermost treble crochet. Increase every 4th-3rd-3rd-2nd-2nd-2nd row a total of 7-8-9-9-11-11 times = 47-51-53-55-59-61 treble crochets. When the sleeve measures 50-50-47-46-42-41 cm, work the next row as follows: Work slip stitches across the first 4 treble crochets, then 1 slip stitch + 3 chain stitches in the next treble crochet, continue with treble crochets until there are 4 stitches left, turn. Work the 2 outermost treble crochets together – remember DECREASE TIP, each end of the next 3-3-4-4-5-5 rows. Cut the strand. The sleeve measures approx. 56-56-54-53-51-50 cm. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew the collar together mid-back edge-to-edge, then sew the collar to the neckline. Sew the sleeve seams edge-to-edge. Sew the sleeves into the body. TWISTED CORD: Cut 2 strands, 2.5 metres long. Twist them tightly together, then fold the cord double and it will continue to twist. Trim the strands to 80-90 cm. Tie a knot in each end. Make 1 more cord in the same way. TASSELS: 1 tassel: Cut a number of strands (e.g., 20 strands) of 15 cm. Fold the strands double and tie a strand around the tassel, 1½ cm from the top. Make 4 tassels and fasten to each end of the cords. Fasten 1 cord on each side of the jacket, by folding the cord double and threading the middle through the jacket mid-front, then pulling the ends through the loop. |
