Bon tricot!

Hi, I’m confused about this part: “When piece measures 18-20 cm – adjust to finish after 4th, 8th, 12th or 16th row in A.1, work until the 2 first purl stitches on round. Purl 1 and insert a marker here.” By “work until the 2 first purl stitches on round”, does it mean that the new round follows a portion of the 4/8/12/16th row we just finished on, or the row after that? Consequentially, is the P1 worked into the first purl stitch of the P2, or the knit stitch before the P2?
23.10.2023 - 11:20DROPS Design answered:
Dear Jess, it means that you work the full 4th, 8th, 12th or 16th round in A.1 to finish, depending on your size. Then, on the next round, work until the first 2 purl stitches on the round, purl 1 stitch (over the first purl stitch) and insert a marker which will be the new beginning of the next rounds (so you displace the beginning of the round). Happy knitting!

Can you tell when it says "when the piece measures 18 to 20cm" does this mean from the beginning of the rib or just the spiral bit. Just once the rib is folded in half it seems a bit small.

Hi Mary, you measure from the cast on edge. Happy knitting!

How many stitches would you cast on to knit a Cannary Row tube scarf approximately 10 inches wide. I understand the main pattern consists of 16 rows repeated .
30.05.2022 - 15:38DROPS Design answered:
Dear Carol, this will depend on your tension in width, you should have 6 sts repeat, make a swatch and recalculate how many stitches you need. Your Yarn store should be able to help you, don't hesitate to contact them, even per mail or telephone - or any knitting forum, as we are unfortunately not able to adjust every pattern to every single request. Thanks for your comprehension. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

😀 All done. Great pattern/design. As I was getting to the end I suddenly realised I don’t have any DPNs so had to quickly teach myself the magic loop for circulars (thank goodness for interchangeables). Looks great and will be using this pattern again. Thank you.

Bon tricot!

Ah ok! I finished 4 rows in A1. The 5th round is purl, purl, knit, knit (in A1). I guess I just need to purl 1 and then insert marker there to start A2 :) Thank you so much!

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on circular needle. Switch to double pointed needles when needed. HAT: Cast on 120-128 stitches on circular needle size 3 mm with Lima. Knit 1 round. Then work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) for 12 cm. Now work pattern A.1 (= 4 stitches) 30-32 times in the round on round. When entire diagram has been worked, repeat it vertically so that pattern is displaced in a spiral. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 18-20 cm – adjust to finish after 4th, 8th, 12th or 16th row in A.1, work until the 2 first purl stitches on round. Purl 1 and insert a marker here. This is now the beginning of round. Work A.2 in the round. When A.2 has been worked vertically, there are 30-32 stitches on round. Knit stitches together 2 by 2 = 15-16 stitches. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Hat measures approx. 23-25 cm. |
