How many half-double crochets around the chain-stitch ring????
22.12.2024 - 20:54DROPS Design answered:
Dear Eleni, after working the ring work according to the charts: start of A.2 - A.1 9 times - end of A.2. So you should start with: 2 chain stitches, then [ 1 half-double crochet around the chain-stitch ring] 9 times (so 9 half-double crochets), finish with 1 slip stitch in the 2nd chain stitch. Happy crochetting!

Bon crochet!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CROCHET-INFO-1: If you work outermost on the hook when working chain stitches they will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 half-treble crochet is wide. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. A.2 shows how the rounds start and finish. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- COASTER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round in a circle, from the middle outwards. A red and white edge is worked in the round to finish. COASTER: Work 4 chain stitches with crochet hook size 3 mm and red and form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch – read CROCHET-INFO-1. Then work according to diagrams A.1 and A.2. Diagram A.2 shows how the rounds start and finish. Diagram A.1 is repeated a total of 9 times on the round. Work the diagram 1 time in height = 5 rounds. EDGE: When the diagram is finished, work an edge with chain-spaces (every other space in red and white) as follows: Work 5 chain stitches with red, skip 1 half-treble crochet, work 1 slip stitch in the next half-treble crochet and work 5 chain stitches. Take the hook out and leave the 5 red chain stitches waiting. In the skipped half-treble crochet (in the middle of the red chain-space) pick up the white strand. Work 5 chain stitches with white and 1 slip stitch in the next available half-treble crochet; make sure you work at the back of the red chain-space already worked (so the red chain-space is in front of the white chain-space). Work 5 new chain stitches, take the hook out and leave the 5 white chain stitches waiting. Place the red chain-space back on the hook and work 1 slip stitch in the next available half-treble crochet; make sure you work at the back of the white chain-space already worked (so the white chain-space is in front of the red chain-space). Have a look at the picture if necessary, to see how the chain-spaces lie around each other. Continue like this until you have worked all the way round. Thread the strand through after the last slip stitch and fasten the ends well. |
