Can this hat be knit on round needles
09.03.2024 - 15:36DROPS Design answered:
Dear Carol, yes. I would omit the edge stitches, and put a marker at the begnning/end of the round. Happy Knitting!

Does the sentence in the instructions "knit all stitches together 2 and 2" mean a simple knit 2 together? I did search the videos and help sections for clarification. Since all size caps decrease the stitches by fifty percent I just knitted two stitches together. I wanted to be precise once in my life. Thank you.
22.12.2022 - 15:34DROPS Design answered:
Dear Kimberly, this means you should knit 2 together all the round, so that you divide the number of remaining stitches in 2. Happy knitting!

Do you know of any clever trick that would allow a person to invisibly reverse direction every round for the top portion of the hat? That would make it go so much quicker not having to purl at all, but I haven't found any tips to turn around and continue knitting "from the back side" in every row (using short circular needles) - and all of my attempts are leaving ugly holes at the turnaround points. Thanks for the great patterns!

Dear Paul, you might then have to work back and forth from mid back and sew the seam at the end. Can this help?

Instructions on chart says “between 2 stitches make 1 yarn over” Does this mean a make one and a yarn over or is it increase one by yarn over? Thanks
27.06.2021 - 03:23DROPS Design answered:
Dear Modonna, you make a yarn over, but there is a K2tog before, or an SSK after the the yarnovers, so the number of stitches are not changing. Happy Stitching!

Knitted baby hat with lace pattern and garter stitch. Sizes premature – 4 years. The piece is worked in DROPS BabyMerino.
DROPS Baby 31-2 |
||||||||||||||||
INFORMATION FOR THE PATTERN: RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge = 2 rounds. Knit 1 round and purl 1 round. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT: The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles. Loosely cast on (72) 80-96-104 (112-120) stitches with double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and BabyMerino. Work 4 RIDGES – see description above. Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm, knit and decrease 8 stitches evenly on round = (64) 72-88-96 (104-112) stitches. Then work pattern in the round according to A.1 (= a total of (8) 9-11-12 (13-14) times in width). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.1 has been worked 1 time in height the piece measures approx. 7 cm. Continue working in garter stitch. When the piece measures (10) 11-12-14 (14-15) cm – adjust so that the next round is a knitted round, decrease as follows: Decrease (7) 8-8-8 (8-10) stitches evenly on every 2nd round (i.e. every knitted round), a total of (6) 6-6-6 (7-7) times = (22) 24-40-48 (48-42) stitches. On the next knitted round, knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = (11) 12-20-24 (24-21) stitches. Purl 1 round and repeat the decrease on the next knitted round in sizes 3/9 - 12/18 months (2 - 3/4) years (do not decrease any more stitches in the other sizes) = (11) 12-10-12 (12-11) stitches. Pull a double strand through the remaining stitches, pull tight and fasten well. The hat measures approx. (13) 14-15-17 (18-19) cm in total. |
