PATTERN HAT: See diagram A.1. Work entire pattern in stocking st. PATTERN NECK WARMER: See diagram A.2. Work entire pattern in stocking st. INCREASE TIP (applies to neck warmer): Inc 1 st in rib section by making 1 YO between the 2 P sts. On next round P YO twisted to avoid holes. ---------------------------------------------------------- BERET: Worked in the round on circular needle, switch to double pointed needles when needed. Cast on 108-116 sts on circular needle size 2.5 mm with ruby red. K 1 round. Then work rib = K 2/P 2 for 3-4 cm. Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm and K 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME dec 18-20 sts evenly = 90-96 sts. Then work pattern according to diagram A.1 (= 15-16 repetitions on round), AT THE SAME TIME from 2nd round inc as shown in diagram = 180-192 sts on needle. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! On round marked with arrow A in diagram, dec 30-33 sts evenly = 150-159 sts. Continue pattern. On round marked with arrow B in diagram, dec 18-19 sts evenly = 132-140 sts. Continue pattern. On round marked with arrow C in diagram, dec 36-36 sts evenly = 96-104 sts. Continue pattern. On round marked with arrow D in diagram, dec 32-36 sts evenly = 64-68 sts. Continue pattern. When A.1 has been worked, continue with grey as follows: * K 1 round, K 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME dec 16-17 sts evenly (i.e. K every 3rd and 4th st tog) *, repeat from *-* 2 more times (for every dec round 1 st less is worked before the 2 sts are worked tog). K 1 round and K the remaining sts tog 2 by 2 again = 8-9 sts remain on needle. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. The hat measures approx. 22-23 cm vertically. NECK WARMER: Worked in the round from bottom up. Cast on 300-344 sts on circular needle size 2.5 mm with ruby red. K 1 round. Then work rib = K 2/P 2 for 4-5 cm. Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm and K 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME dec 76-88 sts evenly = 224-256 sts on needle. K until piece measures 4½-7 cm. Then work pattern according to diagram A.2 (= 14-16 repetitions on round). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! On round marked with arrow E in diagram, dec 14-18 sts evenly = 210-238 sts. Continue pattern. On round marked with arrow F in diagram, dec 24-25 sts evenly = 186-213 sts. Continue pattern. On round marked with arrow G in diagram, dec 10-13 sts evenly = 176-200 sts. Continue pattern. On round marked with arrow H in diagram, dec 20-20 sts evenly = 156-180 sts. Continue pattern. On round marked with arrow I in diagram, dec 20-32 sts evenly = 136-148 sts. Continue pattern. On round marked with arrow J in diagram, dec 30-32 sts evenly = 106-116 sts. Switch to circular needle size 2.5 mm and K 2 rounds with grey while AT THE SAME TIME on last round inc 14-20 sts evenly = 120-136 sts. Then work rib = K 2/P 2. When rib measures 4-5 cm, inc every other 2 P sts to 3 P sts - READ INCREASE TIP = 135-153 sts. Repeat inc when piece measures 8-10 cm but displace inc so that there are K 2/P 3 the entire round = 150-170 sts on needle. When rib measures 10-12 cm, loosely cast off with K over K and P over P. Piece measures approx. 30-34 cm (incl rib). |
