Boa tarde.

When I start the front panels (working on the back now) I would like to knit the button bands at the same time. Will it be easy to adapt to incorporate the button band in seed stitch? I haven't made buttonholes for a long time but I really don't like picking up stitches and am looking for a simpler way. Thank you.

Dear Kate, you can take inspiration from a jacket with the same tension and the buttonband knit tog with front pieces, and open the buttonholes evenly along front piece while you work (starting with front piece without buttonholes may help you to distribute buttonholes on 2nd front piece). You are welcome to request further assistance from the store where you bought your yarn, even per mail or telephone. Happy knitting!

some directions seem to be missing. What comes before the equal sign (=) in front of the words knit and pearl, and on the pattern, what does M.2 and M.1 mean, and some of those directions are not in english. Thank you!

Knit Pattern 1 one time (row 1 = right side), then Pattern 2 one time. Change to larger needles and knit stockinette st to finished measurements. When the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60 cm bind off the center 26 sts for the neck. Then dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 2 times = 22-23-23-24-25 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 54-56-58-60-62 cm. Left front: Cast on 48-52-56-60-64 sts on smaller needles. Knit Pattern 1 one time (row 1 = right side), then Pattern 2 one time. Change to larger needles and knit stockinette st to finished measurements. When the piece measures 34-35-36-37-38 cm bind off for armhole at the side as on back = 38-39-39-40-41 sts. When the piece measures 40-42-44-46-48 cm bind off at center front edge for neck every other row: 2 sts 5 times and 1 st 3 times, then bind off every 4th row: 1 st 3 times = 22-23-23-24-25 sts remain on shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 54-56-58-60-62 cm. Right front: Cast on and knit the same as the left but reverse shaping. Sleeve: Cast on 56-58-58-60-60 sts on smaller needles. Knit Pattern 1 one time (row 1 = right side), then repeat Pattern 2 until the piece measures 16 cm. Change to larger needles and knit stockinette st to finished measurements. When the piece measures 16 cm inc 1 st at each side a total of 9-10-12-13-15 times: Size S: every 10 rows. Size M: alternately every 8th and 9th row. Size L: alternately every 6th and 7th row. Size XL: alternately every 5th and 6th row. Size XXL: alternately every 4th and 5th rows = 74-78-82-86-90 sts. When sleeve measures 49-48-46-45-44 cm bind off for sleeve cap at each side every other row: 3 sts 2-2-1-1-1 time, 2 sts 4-3-3-3-3 times and 1 st 0-3-7-9-12 times, then bind off 2 sts at each side until the piece measures 57-57-57-58-58 cm, then bind off 3 sts 1 time at each side. Bind off remaining sts, the piece measures approx. 58-58-58-59-59 cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Button band: Pick up approx. 90 to 104 sts along left front on smaller needles. Knit seed st for 2.5 cm. Bind off in seed st. Repeat along right button band, but after 1 cm make 7 buttonholes evenly distributed - place the bottom buttonhole 1 cm from bottom edge and the top one approx. 0.5 cm from top edge. 1 buttonhole = bind off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts over the bound off sts on the next row. Neckband: Pick up approx. 104 to 118 sts around the neck (incl. over buttonbands) on smaller needles. Knit 4 rows garter st, bind off. Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams using edge sts as a seam allowance. Sew on buttons. |
