---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge vertically = 2 rounds, i.e. knit 1 round and purl 1 round. GARTER STITCH (back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: Head band: See diagram A.1. Neck warmer: See diagrams A.2 and A.3. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- HEAD BAND - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work back and forth circular needle and sew together mid back. HEAD BAND: Cast on 35 stitches on circular needle size 4.5 mm with 1 strand Sky and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Work 1 ridge in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above. Now work pattern A.1 over all stitches on needle. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Repeat A.1 vertically until piece measures approx. 48 cm or to desired length (approx. 1 cm remains until cast-off) - adjust to not finish in the middle of a displacement of pattern (displacement is on 5th-15th row in diagram). If you want to finish before piece measures 48 cm, work knit over knit and garter stitch over garter stitch until piece measures 48 cm - or desired length. Work 1 ridge over all stitches. Cast off. Sew one and one stitch together inside cast-on edge and cast-off edge to avoid a chunky seam. Cut and fasten the yarn. ---------------------------------------------------------- NECK WARMER - SHORT SUMMARY OF PIECE: Worked in the round on circular needle. NECK WARMER: Cast on 110-116 stitches on circular needle size 4.5 mm with 1 strand Sky and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Purl 1 round and knit 1 round. Then work pattern from mid back as follows: Knit 26-29, A.2 over the next 29 stitches, A.3 over the next 29 stitches, knit over the remaining 26-29 stitches on round. Continue in the round like this. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When entire A.2 and A.3 have been worked vertically, work 1 ridge in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above. Cast off with knit stitches, but over stitches in A.2 and A.3 make 1 yarn over after approx. every 4th stitch, cast off yarn overs as regular stitches (this is done to avoid a tight cast-off edge). |
