GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. HALF A DOMINO SQUARE 1: Row 1 (= WS): K all sts. Row 2 (= RS): K the first 2 sts in domino square tog, then K the rest of row. Repeat rows 1 and 2 until 1 st remains on row, cut the yarn and pull it through st. HALF A DOMINO SQUARE 2: Row 1 (= WS): K all sts. Row 2 (= RS): K until 2 sts remain in domino square, K 2 tog. Repeat rows 1 and 2 until 1 st remains on row, cut the yarn and pull it through st. ---------------------------------------------------------- RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Piece is worked back and forth on circular needle to make room for all the sts when working. The piece is worked top down. A.1 shows right front piece – arrows show knitting direction. Cast on 3 sts on circular needle size 6 mm with Big Delight. Work in GARTER ST - see explanation above - AT THE SAME TIME inc 1 st at beg of every row by working 2 sts in first st on all rows until there are 43-47-49-55-61-67 sts on needle. At the end of last row from WS, cast on 22 new sts on needle = 65-69-71-77-83-89 sts. Then work in garter st over the first 22 sts (= sleeve) and HALF A DOMINO SQUARE 1 over the last 43-47-49-55-61-67 sts seen from RS – see explanation above, beg on 2nd row in domino square. AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 20-22-24-26-29-32 cm (measured straight up on sleeve), cast off the first 22 sts, continue with Half a domino square 1. Pick up 43-47-49-55-61-67 sts along left side on first square, work HALF A DOMINO SQUARE 2 - see explanation above. Pick up 43-47-49-55-61-67 sts along right side on previous square. Then work in garter st, AT THE SAME TIME K the last 2 sts on all rows tog until 1 st remains on row. Cut the yarn and pull it through the last st. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Worked back and forth on circular needle to make room for all the sts. A.2 shows left front piece – arrows show knitting direction. Cast on 3 sts on circular needle size 6 mm with Big Delight. Work in garter st AT THE SAME TIME inc 1 st at beg of every row by working 2 sts in first st on all rows until there are 43-47-49-55-61-67 sts on needle. At the end of last row from RS, cast on 22 new sts on needle = 65-69-71-77-83-89 sts. When piece measures 40-44-47-52-57-63 cm, cast on 22 new sts at the end of the next 2 rows = 122-128-134-142-150-160 sts. When piece measures 58-64-69-76-84-93 cm, cast off the middle 18-18-20-20-22-22 sts for neck = 52-55-57-61-64-69 sts remain on each shoulder. Now finish each side separately. Cast off when piece measures 60-66-71-78-86-95 cm. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew underarm and side seams in front loop of outermost sts. BAND: Pick up approx. 198-216-232-254-280-306 sts on circular needle size 6 mm with Big Delight, up along right front piece, around the neck and down left front piece. Work in garter st. When band measures 4-4-5-5-6-6 cm, dec 5-5-6-6-7-7 buttonholes evenly on right band, the bottom hole should be approx. 18 cm from bottom edge, the top hole approx. 30 cm from shoulder. Dec for buttonholes by working 2 sts tog, then make a YO. Continue in garter st until band measures 6-6-7-7-8-8 cm, cast off. Sew the buttons on to the left band. |
