I have checked all the substitutes which are recommended, did not see any with same sheen and drape. Do have any recommendation with which I can use the pattern without alteration?

Dear Irma, unfortunately this is a very old pattern so sometimes the yarns used in these patterns are nowadays discontinued and may not have a 100% identical alternative. This is the case for Cotton Viscose; the most similar available yarns would be DROPS Loves you 7 and DROPS Safran. Happy knitting!

Most often I get on the section to read comments about a sweater pattern and very few are in English, which is all I speak. I wish there was a conversion to click for reading comments in English.

Hallo.

Bon tricot!

Viscose stretches, be aware of this when the piece is measured! Uneven sts will generally even out in the wash. Tension: Body: 11 sts with 4 strands = 10 cm in width with needle size 8 mm and stocking st. Sleeve: 16 sts x 20 rows with 2 strands = 10 x 10 cm with needle size 5.5 mm and stocking st. Remember needle size is only a guide! Ridge (back and forth on needle): 1 ridge = 2 rows. 1st row: K, 2nd row: K. Pattern: See diag M.1 - the whole pattern is worked in stocking st with 2 strands. Back piece: Cast on 44-48-53-57-62 sts on needle size 7 mm and 1 strand of each colour = 4 strands and work 1 ridge. Change to needle size 8 mm and continue with stocking st. Remember knitting tension! When the piece measures 10-10-12-12-12 cm inc 1 sts in each side every 8th-8th-12th-12th-12th cm in total 3-3-2-2-2 times = 50-54-57-61-66 sts. When the piece measures 36-37-38-39-40 cm cast off for armholes in each side every 2nd row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 0-0-1-1-2 times and 1 st 2-3-2-4-4 times = 40-42-43-43-44 sts. When the piece measures 53-55-57-59-61 cm cast off the middle 16-16-17-17-18 sts for neck. Continue to cast off 1 st on the next row towards the neck = 11-12-12-12-12 sts remain on each shoulder. Cast off when the piece measures 55-57-59-61-63 cm. Left front piece: Cast on 23-25-28-30-32 sts (incl 1 band st towards mid front) with needle size 7 mm and 1 strand of each colour = 4 strands, work 1 ridge. Change to needle size 8 mm and continue with stocking st but the 1 band st towards mid front is worked in ridges until finished length. When the piece measures 10-10-12-12-12 cm inc in the side as for the back piece = 26-28-30-32-34 sts. When the piece measures 36-37-38-39-40 cm cast off for armhole in the side as for the back piece = 21-22-23-23-23 sts on the needle. When the piece measures 43-45-47-49-51 cm place the 6-6-7-7-7 sts towards mid front on a thread for the neck. Continue to cast off towards neck every 2nd row: 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 2 times = 11-12-12-12-12 sts remain on shoulder. Cast off when the piece measures 55-57-59-61-63 cm. Right front piece: Cast on and work as for the left front piece but cast off for armhole and neck on the opposite side. In addition cast off for buttonholes in the band. The buttonholes are worked as follows from RS: 1 st ridge, 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, lift the slip st over. Cast off for buttonholes when the piece measures: Size S: 7, 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42 cm. Size M: 7, 14, 22, 29, 37 and 44 cm. Size L: 7, 15, 23, 31, 39 and 46 cm. Size XL: 8, 16, 24, 32, 40 and 48 cm. Size XXL: 8, 16, 25, 33, 42 and 50 cm. Sleeves: Cast on 39-40-42-44-45 sts (incl 1edge st in each side) with needle size 5.5 mm and 1 strand rust + 1 strand khaki green and work 1 ridge. Continue with stocking st after M.1 until finished length. When the piece measures 8 cm inc 1 st in each side every 4.5-4-3.5-3.5-3 cm in total 9-10-11-11-12 times = 57-60-64-66-69 sts. When the sleeve measures 48-47-45-45-43 cm cast off for the sleeve cap in each side every 2nd row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 st 2 times and 1 st 2-2-4-5-7 times, continue to cast off 2 sts in each side until the piece measures 55-55-55-56-56 cm, then cast off 3 sts 1 time in each side. The piece measures approx. 56-56-56-57-57 cm, cast off the remaining sts. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Neck: Pick up approx. 50 to 60 sts (incl sts from the thread in front) round the neck with needle size 7 mm and 1 strand of each colour = 4 strands. Work 1 ridge and cast off. Crochet borders: Crochet with 1 strand of each colour = 4 strands, with hook size 5 mm as follows: Work 1 row dc on the cast on edge at the bottom of the body, around the ridge sts up along the bands, on the cast off edge round the neck and on the cast on edge at the bottom of the sleeves. Work 1 dc in each st/row. Sew in the sleeves. Sew the sleeve seams inside 1 edge st and sew the side seams in the outermost loop of the outermost st so that the seams are not thick. Sew on the buttons. |
