PATTERN: See diagram M.1. Diagram shows the pattern from RS. -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- SKIRT: Worked back and forth on circular needle from side to side. Worked with shortened rows in order to make the skirt wider along bottom edge. The entire piece is worked in garter st, i.e. K all rows. Cast on 25 sts on circular needle size 3 mm with Baby Merino. Work 10 rows back and forth on needle for button edge (first row = RS). Now cast on 100-105-110-115-120-125 sts at the end of next row from RS = 125-130-135-140-145-150 sts. K 1 row from WS on all sts. Insert a marker in piece, and now measure piece from here. Work next rows as follows (from the waist towards bottom edge): 10 sts, insert MARKER-1, work 15 sts, insert MARKER-2, work 48-53-58-63-68-73 sts, insert MARKER-3, work 42 sts, insert MARKER-4, work M.1 on the remaining 10 sts (NOTE! number of sts in M.1 varies). Let all markers follow the piece as you go along. READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING SECTION BEFORE CONTINUING! Now work shortened rows as follows (when turning mid piece, tighten thread before working return row): * Work 10-12-12-14-14-16 rows back and forth on all sts (first row = WS), then work sts to MARKER-1 (10 sts remain), turn and work return row. Work sts to MARKER-2 (25 sts remain), turn and work return row. Now work 1 pleat as follows: Work M.1, turn and work return row. Work M.1 + 3 sts, turn and work return row. Work M.1 + 6 sts, turn and work return row. Work M.1 + 9 sts, turn and work return row. Continue like this with 3 more sts before each turn until you reach MARKER 3, turn and work return row *. Repeat from *-* until piece measures approx 88-94-102-112-122-134 cm in the knitting direction between MARKER-2 and MARKER-3 (place piece flat when measuring) - adjust so that next row is from RS. On next row from RS (from waist towards bottom edge) make 5 buttonholes as follows: K2, * K2 tog, 1 YO, K3 *, repeat from *-* a total of 4 times, K2 tog, 1 YO and work remaining sts on row as before. Continue on all sts as before until piece measures approx 90-96-104-114-124-136 cm in the knitting direction between MARKER-2 and MARKER-3 (when placed flat) - adjust to after a full repeat of M.1. Work 2 rows on all sts and cast off LOOSELY. ASSEMBLY: Sew tog skirt, edge to edge up to button edge. Sew buttons to button edge. |
