SCARF: Pattern: See diagram M.1 to M.7. Diagram shows the pattern from the RS. The entire pattern is worked in stocking st. Increasing tip: Inc 1 st by making 1 YO between 3rd and 4th st. Scarf: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 128 sts on circular needle size 2.5 mm with light grey Alpaca. K 1 round and continue in rib, K2/P2. When piece measures 15 cm change to needle size 3 mm. K 1 round, at the same time dec 32 sts evenly (K tog every 3rd and 4th st) = 96 sts. Remember the knitting tension! K 1 round and continue as follows: M.1, 2 vertical repeats of M.2, M.3, 3 vertical repeats of M.2, M.4, 2 vertical repeats of M.2, M.5, 3 vertical repeats of M.2, M.6, 2 vertical repeats of M.2, M.7, 4 vertical repeats of M.2, M.6, 2 vertical repeats of M.2, M.7, 3 vertical repeats of M.2, M.5, 2 vertical repeats of M.2, M.4, 3 vertical repeats of M.2, M.3. After 1 vertical repeat of M.3, K 1 round with light grey, at the same time inc 32 sts evenly – see Increasing tip = 128 sts. Change to circular needle size 2.5 mm and continue in rib. When rib measures 15 cm cast off loosely. Scarf measures approx 185 cm. GLOVES Pattern: See diagram M.8. Diagram shows the pattern from the RS. The entire pattern is worked in stocking st. Left glove: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 64 sts on needle size 2.5 mm with light grey Alpaca. K 1 round and then continue in rib, K2/P2. When rib measures 2 cm change to needle size 3 mm, K 1 round, at the same time dec 16 sts evenly = 48 sts. Now continue in M.8 on all sts (6 repeats across the row). At the same time when piece measures approx 15 cm (adjust so that next round is a single colour row in pattern) dec 4 sts evenly = 44 sts. At the same time when piece measures 18 cm from casting on row beg inc for thumb gusset. Cast on 1 new st at the end of round and insert a Marking Thread (MT) in this st. Now inc 1 st on each side of st with MT – inc by making 1 YO and work YO into back of loop on next round to avoid a hole. Inc like this (= 2 inc per round) on every 4th round a total of 5 times = 11 thumb sts and 55 sts in total (incorporate inc sts in pattern as you go along). When piece measures 24 cm slip the 11 thumb sts on a stitch holder. Cast on 4 new sts behind thumb = 48 sts. Continue in M.8. After M.8 piece measures approx 29 cm from casting on row. Now slip the first and the last 19 sts on a stitch holder = 10 sts left on needles. Little finger: Distribute the 10 sts on 3 needles and cast on 2 new sts towards the hand = 12 sts. Work stocking st in the round with light grey for approx 5.5 cm, on next round work all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten. Hand: Slip the 38 sts from stitch holder back on needles, pick up 2 sts towards little finger = 40 sts. Work 3 rounds stocking st with slate grey on all sts. Now keep the 2 sts picked up towards little finger + 6 sts on both sides of these on needles and slip the remaining 13 sts from upper hand and 13 sts from under hand on separate stitch holders. Ring finger: Cast on 1 new st towards sts on stitch holders = 15 sts. Work stocking st in the round with light grey for approx 7 cm, on next round work all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten. Middle finger: Slip 6 sts from each stitch holder back on needles, pick up 2 sts towards ring finger and cast on 1 new st towards sts on stitch holders = 15 sts. Work stocking st in the round with light grey for approx 8 cm, on next round work all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten. Index finger: Slip the remaining 7 sts from each stitch holder back on needles, pick up 2 sts towards middle finger = 16 sts. Work stocking st in the round with light grey for approx 7 cm, on next round work all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten. Thumb: Slip sts from stitch holder back on needles and pick up 5 new sts in the edge behind the thumb sts = 16 sts. Work stocking st in the round with light grey for approx 5.5 cm, on next round work all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten. Right glove: Like left glove, but inc 1 st for thumb gusset at beg of round instead of at the end of round. |
