Thanks for the prompt response! I haven't worked this step and don't understand how: "work until the 2 first purl stitches on round. Purl 1 and insert a marker here. This is now the beginning of round."... Please help...

Dear Amerrygirl, oh sorry, I thought this was already worked. You work A.1 until you desired length but make sure the last row in A.1 worked is either a row 4, 8, 12 or 16 in A.1. At the beginning of next round, work as shown in diagram until you have to work P2 in diagram (this might come at the beg of round or you might have to work some more sts, depending on which row you worked before). Now P1 as in diagram, displace the marker for the beg of round here and continue round from here. Work now A.2 from here. Hope this will helps. Happy knitting!

Hello: I'm half way through this amazing hat but am stuck here: "When piece measures 18-20 cm – adjust to finish after 4th, 8th, 12th or 16th row in A.1, work until the 2 first purl stitches on round. Purl 1 and insert a marker here. This is now the beginning of round. " I started repeating A1 and finished 4 rows of A1. Should I go on with row 5 (purl, purl, knit, knit) but what does work until 2 first purl stitches mean? Thanks much! Can't wait to finish this!

Dear Amerrygirl, it looks like you are now right, after you have worked the first 4 rows in A.2, there are (K1, P1, K1) around; continue following A.2 as shown in diagram. You don't work A.1 anymore. Happy knitting!

Hi there, should I start A1 on right or wrong side? Thanks!

Hi Wendy, This hat is recommended worked in the round, so you are working from the right side throughout. Happy knitting!

Greetings, could you kindly clarify "vertically" ("when entire diagram (A1) has been worked, repeat it vertically so that pattern is displaced in a spiral")? I have finished knitting the first round of A1 (right to left, bottom to top). How do I repeat it vertically - where would be my starting point on A1 chart? Thank you.
05.10.2020 - 04:52DROPS Design answered:
Hi Vivi, You continue with a new repeat of A.1 above the A.1 stitches from the first repeat. The pattern will spiral on the hat due to the design of the stitches. Happy knitting!

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on circular needle. Switch to double pointed needles when needed. HAT: Cast on 120-128 stitches on circular needle size 3 mm with Lima. Knit 1 round. Then work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) for 12 cm. Now work pattern A.1 (= 4 stitches) 30-32 times in the round on round. When entire diagram has been worked, repeat it vertically so that pattern is displaced in a spiral. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 18-20 cm – adjust to finish after 4th, 8th, 12th or 16th row in A.1, work until the 2 first purl stitches on round. Purl 1 and insert a marker here. This is now the beginning of round. Work A.2 in the round. When A.2 has been worked vertically, there are 30-32 stitches on round. Knit stitches together 2 by 2 = 15-16 stitches. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Hat measures approx. 23-25 cm. |
