Hei, onko tarkoitus tehdä patentti neuleen 2. vai 3. kerros ennen kuin työ jaetaan etu ja taka kappaleisiin? Takakappaleen aloitus aiheuttaa hankaluuksia, en millään saa työtä oikein

How many cm should the neck portion be? I only see the measurements of the neckline, but not the neck itself
14.10.2026 - 22:46DROPS Design answered:
Hi Neda, The neck should be 16 or 17 cm in height, depending on the size you are working (see under Neck in the text). Regards, Drops Team.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- ENGLISH RIB in the round: ROUND 1: * Make 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch purl-wise, knit 1 *, repeat from *-* to end of round. ROUND 2: * Purl together the yarn over and slipped stitch, make 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch purl-wise *, repeat from *-* to end of round. ROUND 3: * Make 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch purl-wise, knit together the yarn over and slipped stitch *, repeat from *-* to end of round. Repeat rounds 2 and 3 onwards. INCREASE TIP-1: All increases are worked on a round where the yarn overs and slipped stitches are knitted together (i.e., round 3 of English rib). Increase only on the front and back pieces, so there are always 13 shoulder-stitches between the markers. Increase 2 stitches in the marker-stitch as follows: Knit together the yarn over and slipped stitch but do not slip them from the left needle, make 1 yarn over the right needle, knit together the yarn over and slipped stitch 1 more time (= 2 stitches + 1 yarn over). Insert the marker into the knitted stitch closest to the sleeve (i.e., increase only on the front and back pieces; the number of shoulder-stitches remains the same). On the next round work the increased stitches into the pattern as follows: Make 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch purl-wise, purl 1, make 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch purl-wise (= 2 knitted stitches + 1 purled stitch). The marker now sits in the knitted stitch closest to the sleeve (= marker-stitch). INCREASE TIP-2: Increase 2 stitches on each side as follows: Knit together the yarn over and slipped stitch but do not slip them from the left needle, make 1 yarn over the right needle, knit together the yarn over and slipped stitch 1 more time (= 2 stitches + 1 yarn over). On the next row work the increased stitches into the pattern. CASTING-OFF TIP: To avoid the cast-off edge being tight, you can knit the yarn overs before casting them off as normal stitches. GARTER STITCH (back and forth): Knit all rows, from both the right and wrong side. 1 ridge in height = knit 2 rows. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- VEST – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The neck and yoke are worked in the round, top down and from right back shoulder. Stitches are increased for the front and back pieces before casting off across the shoulders, The front and back pieces are then finished separately, back and forth. The vest is fastened with ties on each side. NECK: Cast on 64-68-68-72-72-76-76 stitches loosely with circular needle size 5 mm and DROPS Air. Work ENGLISH RIB in the round – read explanation above, until the piece measures 16-16-16-16-17-17-17 cm, finishing after round 2 in the English rib. YOKE: Insert 4 markers in 4 knitted stitches, without working the round as follows: Count 13 stitches (= shoulder), insert 1 marker in the next stitch (= knitted stitch), count 17-19-19-21-21-23-23 stitches (= front piece), insert 1 marker in the next stitch (= knitted stitch), count 13 stitches (= shoulder), insert 1 marker in the next stitch (= knitted stitch), count 17-19-19-21-21-23-23 stitches (= back piece), insert 1 marker in the last stitch (= knitted stitch). Insert 1 marker in the middle of the back piece; this is used when measuring the length of the garment and should have a different colour from the other 4 markers. Switch to circular needle size 5.5 mm. The knitted marker-stitches are used when increasing for the saddle shoulders. Read INCREASE TIP-1 and work as follows: Continue the English rib and increase 2 stitches in each marker-stitch (8 increased stitches). Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Increase like this every 6th round a total of 9-9-10-10-11-11-12 times; the increased stitches are worked into the English rib and the marker-stitches are always on either side of the 13 shoulder-stitches = 136-140-148-152-160-164-172 stitches. On the next round, divide for the front and back pieces and the 13 shoulder-stitches are cast off. Read CASTING-OFF TIP and work as follows: Cast off each stitch and yarn over separately as far as the first marker (13 cast-off stitches), continue English rib to the next marker (55-57-61-63-67-69-73 stitches), cast off each stitch and yarn over separately as far as the next marker (13 cast-off stitches), continue English rib to the next marker (55-57-61-63-67-69-73 stitches). Do not cut the strand, turn and continue the back piece. BACK PIECE: From the wrong side: Purl 1, knit 1 (worked without its yarn over), knit the yarn over, * make 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch purl-wise, knit together yarn over and stitch *, work from *-* until there are 3 stitches left, make 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch purl-wise, knit the yarn over, purl 1 and knit 1 = 57-59-63-65-69-71-75 stitches. Insert 1 marker outermost on the back piece; the armhole is measured from here. Continue English rib with 3 edge-stitches each side as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front * knit together the yarn over and slipped stitch, make 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch purl-wise *, work from *-* until there is 1 yarn over and 4 stitches left, knit together the yarn over and slipped stitch, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1. ROW 2 (wrong side): Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, * make 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch purl-wise, knit together the yarn over and slipped stitch *, work from *-* until there are 4 stitches left, make 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch purl-wise, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1. When the piece measures 12-10-11-11-12-11-12 cm from the cast-off stitches on the shoulder, increase 2 stitches each side from the right side in the 4th stitch from both edges (i.e., in a knitted stitch) – read INCREASE TIP-2. Increase like this every 10th-10th-10th-8th-8th-8th-6th row a total of 2-3-3-4-4-5-6 times = 65-71-75-81-85-91-99 stitches. The piece measures approx. 15-16-17-18-19-20-21 cm from the division; the armhole measures approx. 20-21-22-23-24-25-26 cm from the shoulder when the piece is folded mid-shoulder. Continue working pattern until the vest measures 48-50-52-54-56-58-60 cm from the marker mid-back. Cast off from the right side. Remember CASTING-OFF TIP. FRONT PIECE: Work in the same way as the back piece. TIES: Work ties which are fastened under each sleeve. Cast on 4 stitches with double pointed needles size 5 mm. Knit 1 row. Now work a tube as follows: * Push the stitches to the right-hand end of the needle without turning, tighten the strand and knit all stitches *, work from *-* until the tie measures 40-50 cm. Work 4 ties. ASSEMBLY: Sew the ties under each armhole on both the front and back pieces, approx. 2 cm below the last increase. As the vest is worked in English rib, it can be worn from both the right and wrong side. |
