Bon crochet!

I am having the hardest time with row 5. How does one double crochet and increase at the same time? Would it not be worded as just "increase" and when I look at the "tip" it's just a reiteration of explaining how to increase. I tried to just work backwards and figure out how to get 45 stitches from 33 but I can't figure it out.
16.07.2021 - 05:55DROPS Design answered:
Dear Keiron, to calculate where to decrease take the number of stitches of the row (for example 44), and divide with the number of stitches to be increased (4) (in this example 44/4 = 11). Then crochet 2 stitches in every 11th stitch. Happy Crafting!

Having trouble with Round 11. Have made this hat twice and still can't figure it out!:(
14.01.2019 - 18:15DROPS Design answered:
Dear Jackie, the stitches worked on round 11 has to be worked in the sts from round 9 around the sts from round 10: Insert the crochet hook in the sts from round 9 (as you did for the sl sts on round 10) and work the dc as usual, the sl sts from round 10 should be hidden in the dc on round 11. Happy crocheting!

How is row 11 worked? Made 2 of these hats & still did not get it right!:0
14.01.2019 - 15:22DROPS Design answered:
Dear Jackie, on round 10 you crocheted 1 sl st in each dc from round 9 around. On round 11 crochet 1 dc in each stitch from round 9 around the sl st from round 10: insert the crochet hook in the dc from round 9 so that the sl st from round 10 will be "hidden" in the dc on round 11. Happy crocheting!

Voor het proeflapje gebruik je stokjes.

For those with size issues first make sure you are using the correct thickness yarn (not clear in pattern what that is). round 5 make sure to increase the 4 dc which gives you one extra shell in the shell rows. makes all the difference.

After attempt #12, I have given up (bought the exact same wool inc colour - it\'s gorgeous BTW) and I\'m using the correct size hook, and the tension is good, it\'s not tight, there\'s plenty of stretch. Either I have a large cranium or, the model has a small one. \r\nWill attempt a different pattern.
