I can't for the life of me figure out how to do a gauge swatch for this pattern. I don't understand in what order or when to work the charts. Thanks for any help!

Must be reading chart M2C row 3 incorrectly because I tried ending with a yarnover k3tog yarnover as the diagram seemed to suggest and don't know what to do with this yarnover when I turn the work to start purling back for row 4. Pls help :)...thanks so much.

Dear Marti, pattern has been updated, and 1 edge st each side have been added, so that you will work diagrams with 1 edge st each side. If you don't want to add them, you get the option to just skip last repeat with holes. Happy knitting!

DROPS shoulder piece in lace pattern in Cotton Viscose and Vivaldi or BabyAlpaca Silk and Brushed Alpaca Silk. Size S – XXXL
DROPS 107-21 |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Pattern: See diagram M.1 to M.4. Diagram is seen from the RS. Measurement tip: Because of the pattern the shoulder piece will become rather elastic. Try it on as you go along to judge the length. Shoulder piece: Worked from side to side back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 98-106-114 sts (includes 1 edge st each side) on circular needle size 5.5 mm with 1 thread of each quality. K 1 row from WS and now continue in Rib with 1 edge st each side in garter st as follows: K 1 edge st, *K1/P3*, repeat from *-* and finish row with K 1 edge st. When piece measures 5 cm K 2 rows and on last row inc 2 sts evenly = 100-108-116 sts. Continue as follows from RS: K 1 edge st, M.1A (= 3 sts), M.1B on the next 88-96-104 sts and finish row with M.1C (= 7 sts), K 1 edge st. Work 12 vertical repeats of M.1 = 52-60-68 sts. Remember the knitting tension! Now continue in M.2 as follows: K 1 edge st , M.2A (= 3 sts), M.2B on the next 44-52-60 sts and finish row with M.2C (= 3 sts), K 1 edge st. Work 2 vertical repeats of M.2. You have now reached mid back – see Measuring tip! Now work: K 1 edge st, M.3A (= 3 sts), M.3B on the next 44-52-60 sts and finish row with M.3C (= 3 sts), K 1 edge st. Work 2 vertical repeats of M.3, but in the second repeat finish pattern after row 6 in diagram. Continue as follows: K 1 edge st , M.4 A (= 3 sts), M.4B on the next 44-52-60 sts and finish row with M.4C (= 3 sts), K 1 edge st. Work 12 vertical repeats of M.4 = 100-108-116 sts on row. K 2 rows and on last row dec 2 sts evenly = 98-106-114 sts. Continue in Rib as follows: 1 edge st, *K1/P3*, repeat from *-* and finish row with 1 edge st. Continue until Rib measures 5 cm and cast off in Rib. Assembly: Fold piece double – see folding edge in diagram and sew Rib tog inside 1 edge st. Pick up approx 400-420 sts (divisible by 4) on needle size 5.5 mm with 1 thread of each quality round the opening. Work Rib, K1/P3. When Rib measures 4 cm inc 1 st in each P section and continue with K1/P4. Cast off in Rib when Rib measures 7 cm. |
