Pattern calls for 3mm/2.5 US for rib, however, the wording in the pattern states to cast on with 3.5mm/US 4 for rib and it does not indicate when to switch needle size.
29.10.2015 - 16:01DROPS Design answered:
Dear Ann, that's correct, rib should be worked with needle size 3 mm, then change to size 3,5 mm when working in stocking st. Pattern will be edited as soon as possible. Thank you. Happy knitting!

PATTERN: Work pattern as follows: Round 1 and 2: K all sts. Round 3: * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from *-* the entire round. Round 4: K over K and P over P. Round 5 and 6: K all sts. Round 7: * P 2, K 2 *, repeat from *-* the entire round. Round 8: K over K and P over P. Then repeat round 1-8. ---------------------------------------------------------- RIGHT GLOVE: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 45-50 sts with Karisma on double pointed needles size 3 mm and work 4 rounds rib = K 2/P 3. On next round continue with rib AT THE SAME TIME dec the first st in every P section by P 2 tog = 36-40 sts on needle. Continue rib like this until piece measures 5 cm. On next row change to needles size 3,5 and work in stocking st while AT THE SAME TIME dec 4-0 sts evenly = 32-40 sts. Then work PATTERN - see explanation above, over all 32-40 sts. On 3rd round with pattern insert 1 marker at beg of round (between a P st and a K st). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 10 cm, beg inc for thumb gusset by making 1 YO on each side of st after marker (= 2 sts inc). On next round K YOs twisted to avoid holes (work entire thumb gusset in stocking st). Repeat inc for thumb gusset every other round 4-5 more times (inc on each side of inc sts for thumb gusset, i.e. there are 2 sts more between YOs for every inc) = 11-13 sts for thumb gusset and 42-52 sts in total. When piece measures 14 cm, slip the 11-13 sts for thumb gusset on 1 stitch holder and cast on 1 new st over sts on stitch holder = 32-40 sts on needle. Continue with pattern in the round until piece measures 17-18 cm. Then work as follows: Work the first 12-15 sts before slipping them on 1 stitch holder (= inside hand), keep the next 8-10 sts on needle and slip the last 12-15 sts on 1 stitch holder (= on top of hand). LITTLE FINGER: = 8-10 sts, in addition cast on 2 new sts towards sts on stitch holder = 10-12 sts. Work stocking st in the round until little finger measures approx. 5½-6½ cm. On next round K all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. HAND: Slip sts from stitch holders back on the needles, pick in addition up 3 sts towards the little finger = 27-33 sts. Work 2 rounds in stocking st. Keep the 3 sts that were picked up towards the little finger + 4-5 sts on top of hand and 4-5 sts inside the hand on the needle. Slip the remaining 16-20 sts remain on stitch holders (= 8-10 sts on each stitch holder). Work ring finger. RING FINGER: = 11-13 sts, cast on 1 new st towards sts on stitch holder = 12-14 sts. Work stocking st in the round until finger measures approx. 7-8 cm. On next round K all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. MIDDLE FINGER: Slip 4-5 sts from stitch holder on top of hand and 4-5 sts inside the hand back on needles, pick in addition up 3 sts towards the ring finger and cast on 1 new st towards sts on stitch holder = 12-14 sts. Work stocking st in the round until finger measures approx. 7½-8½ cm. On next round K all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. INDEX FINGER: Slip the remaining 8-10 sts from stitch holders back on the needles, pick in addition up 3 sts towards the middle finger = 11-13 sts. Work stocking st in the round until finger measures approx. 6½-7½ cm. On next round K all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. THUMB: Slip the sts from stitch holder over thumb gusset on the needles and pick in addition up 3 sts along the edge behind these sts = 14-16 sts. Work stocking st in the round until thumb measures approx. 5½-6 cm. On next round K all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. LEFT GLOVE: Work as right glove but reversed. When piece measures 10 cm, beg inc for thumb gusset by making 1 YO on each side of st before marker. When piece measures 17-18 cm, work little finger as follows: Work the first 12-15 sts (= on top of hand) before slipping them on 1 stitch holder, keep the next 8-10 sts on needle, and slip the last 12-15 sts on 1 stitch holder (= inside hand). |
