Hi, I want to make the Gemma knitted halter top but can’t figure out how many skeins of yarn I need to buy. Am I missing something ? Thank you.

Hi Anne, Drops Paris is sold in 50 g balls, so you either need 3 balls for the smallest size or 4 balls for the other sizes. Happy knitting!

Hallo.

Hello, I’m doing this pattern right now and I was wondering if when you said “decrease 1 stitch :2,5,10,15 times” should I decrease 2 stitches on the first row then 5, and then 10…?
20.12.2023 - 19:33DROPS Design answered:
Dear Leanne, each number refers to the size, in the same order, this means in first size you will decrease 2 times, in 2nd size, you will decrease 5 times, and so on. Happy knitting!

Salve nel pezzo per modellare lo scalfo e collo che dice: SCALFO: Diminuire 1 m a f alterni 10 volte. Vuol dire diminuire a ogni giro a dritto consecutivo per 10 volte? Cosa si intende per ferri alterni?
10.08.2023 - 15:26DROPS Design answered:
Buonasera Beatrice, deve lavorare un giro con diminuzioni e un giro senza diminuzioni. Buon lavoro!

I’ve started and frogged and restarted this breast piece like 4 times. Getting so frustrated. When the original base is at 22cm, should you end on a wrong side row or a right side row? And when you say dec “every other” row does that mean counting the purl rows or only counting the knit rows?
15.03.2022 - 16:37DROPS Design answered:
Dear Amy, when piece measures 22 cm and you are ready to divide piece, you can divide either after a wrong side row to avoid cutting the yarn and then start first side (left side when wearing the top) decreasing for armhole at the beg of every RS row then on every other row from RS and decreasing for neck at the end of every other row from RS. Every other row = decrease on a RS row, work the row from WS/ every other row from RS = decrease from RS, work 3 rows and repeat these 4 rows. Happy knitting!

What does it mean by "When the piece measures 5 cm and 10 cm dec 1 st at each side..."? Why does it say "and 10cm", is this the length from the cast on edge? Because I only have 5cm from the cast on edge
11.02.2022 - 03:17DROPS Design answered:
Hi Isobel, This means you increase both when the piece measures 5 cm and when the piece measures 10 cm. Happy knitting!

Buon lavoro!

Gauge: 16 sts x 20 rows = 10 x 10 cm on larger needles in stockinette st. Rib: * K 1, P 1 *, repeat from * - *. Knitting tips (for armhole and neck): All decs are made from right side. Dec inside 3 edge sts knit as follows from edge (seen from the right side): K 2, P 1. Dec 1 st as follows: After 3 edge sts: Slip 1 st as if to knit, K 1, psso. Before 3 edge sts: K 2 tog. On rows without a dec (wrong side rows), K the 3rd st from edge. Front: Cast on 60-66-76-84 sts on smaller needles. Knit rib for 2 cm. Change to larger needles and stockinette st, decreasing 4-4-6-6 sts evenly distributed on the first row = 56-62-70-78 sts. When the piece measures 5 cm and 10 cm dec 1 st at each side = 52-58-66-74 sts. When the piece measures 15 cm and 19 cm inc 1 st at each side = 56-62-70-78 sts. When the piece measures 22-23-24-25 cm divide the piece at center front and put half the sts on a st holder. 1st side: Shape armhole and neck at the same time - see knitting tips. Armhole: Dec 1 st every other row 2-5-10-15 times, then every 4 rows 11-10-8-6 times. Neckband: Dec 1 st every 4 rows 10-11-12-13 times. After all shaping is complete 5 sts remain, continue in stockinette st on these sts until the band measures approx. 25 cm (from end of decs). Dec 1 st at each side, knit 1 row and K tog the last 3 sts, fasten off. 2nd side: Put sts back on needles and knit the same as the 1st side, reversing shaping. Begin the first row at center front. Start by picking up 1 st in the first st from the other side and knit together with the 1st st from this side. This reinforces the lower edge of the V-neck. Back: Cast on 54-60-68-76 sts on smaller needles. Knit rib for 2 cm. Change to larger needles and stockinette st, decreasing 4-4-6-6 sts evenly distributed on the first row = 50-56-62-70 sts. When the piece measures 5 cm and 10 cm dec 1 st at each side = 46-52-58-66 sts. When the piece measures 15 cm and 19 cm inc 1 st at each side = 50-56-62-70 sts. When the piece measures 20-21-22-23 cm change to smaller needles and knit rib for 2 cm, bind off in pattern. I-cord: Cast on 3 sts on smaller double-pointed needles. Knit 1 row, * slide sts to right side of needle without turning, pull yarn tight on back side and knit from same side as previous row *. Repeat from * - *. Bind off when I-cord measures approx. 80-90-100-110 cm. Knit a second I-cord. Assembly: Sew side seams using edge sts as seam allowance, sewing I-cord into top of each seam. |
