When it comes to M2 does this mean that I would have to knit the 17stitches in row 1,then continue with the 17stitches in row 2 and so on? I'm using two yarns as stated in the pattern but of another brand. Alpaca and cotton. How many stitches should I cast on for medium size? Thanking you in advance.

Dear Evangelis, you wil find how to read diagrams here as well as a video from a similar wave pattern. Check and keep the tension stated in the pattern - read more here about tension. Happy knitting!

I'm totally confused. Apparently this knits from bottom up which it does not say and I'm making a two tone one. The M.1 on the video is different than what prints out, so it is done on just two rows in beginning? Then do M.2 which one pattern is 6 rows, right?
29.10.2016 - 01:56DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sherry, correct, M.1 is worked only once at the very beg of the pattern: Round 1: K8, slip 1, K2 tog, psso, K8 (= 2 sts dec in each repeat), Round 2: P all sts. Then work the 17 sts in M.2 around, ie 17 sts x 6 rounds. Happy knitting!

I am knitting the small size and started theM2 pattern which is worked over 18 stitches: K2tog 3 times, 1 yo between 2 sts 6 times, K2 tog 3 times. I have 221 stitches on my needle which leaves me with 5 stitches at the end of the row. Do I just knit them ? Will that be the back?
09.09.2015 - 20:51DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Lasky, lace row in M.2 is worked over 17 sts as follows: K2 tog 3 times, then (YO, K1) repeat from (to) a total of 5 times, YO, K2 tog 3 times. You will repeat this a total of 13 times around (13 x 17 sts= 221 sts). See also video below. Happy knitting!

Pattern: See diagram M.1 and M.2. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS. Garter st, back and forth on needle: K all rows. Poncho: Knitted in the round on circular needle. Cast on 247-266-285-304-323-342 sts on circular needle size 5 mm with 1 thread of each quality. Work 1 vertical repeat of M.1 = 221-238-255-272-289-306 sts. Continue in M.2 until piece measures approx 19-20-21-22-23-24 cm. K 1 round, at the same time dec 33-34-37-42-45-44 sts evenly = 188-204-218-230-244-262 sts (= K tog approx every 6th and 7th st). Insert 1 Marking Thread (MT) at beg of round and 1 MT after 94-102-109-115-122-131 sts (to mark the sides). Continue in stocking st. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 22-23-24-25-26-27 cm dec 1 st on each side on both MT on every 2 cm a total of 3-4-4-3-4-4 times = 176-188-202-218-228-246 sts. Continue until piece measures 29-30-31-32-33-34 cm and now dec 2-2-4-2-0-6 sts evenly on round = 174-186-198-216-228-240 sts. Work the first 29-31-33-36-38-40 sts on round and now complete piece in garter st back and forth on needle (neck opening of poncho is now to one side). Insert 6 MT in piece as follows: 1 MT after 14-15-16-18-19-20 sts, 1 MT after 43-46-49-54-57-60 sts, 1 MT after 72-77-82-90-95-100 sts, 1 MT after 101-108-115-126-133-140 sts, 1 MT after 130-139-148-162-171-180 sts and 1 MT after 159-170-181-198-209-220 sts. Work garter st – see above - back and forth on needle until piece measures 30-31-32-33-34-35 cm. Now dec 1 st on each side of all MT (= 12 dec per row) on every 2 cm a total of 4-4-4-5-5-5 times = 126-138-150-156-168-180 sts. On next row from RS dec 18-18-18-12-12-12 sts evenly = 108-120-132-144-156-168 sts. P 1 row from WS and cast off loosely. Crochet border: Crochet a border with crochet hook size 5 mm and 1 thread of each quality round the neck opening - beg in the middle of split, work along split, round the neckline and down the other side of split – as follows: 1 dc, *3 ch, skip approx 1 cm, 1 dc*, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 sl st in first dc from beg of round. Crochet a similar border along bottom edge of poncho. Sew on buttons evenly distributed on left side of split and use crochet border as buttonholes. |
