Also, when I have 186-204-222-246 sts in total on needle, the first 31-34-37-41 sts that I Knit are the sts that I casted on, right?
25.02.2014 - 14:40DROPS Design answered:
Dear Barbara, the first 31-34-37-41 sts you work after inserting marker are the half of the 62-68-74-82 sts you worked on previous row, ie half sts on neckline on back piece. Happy knitting!

Hello! I' m knitting this bolero but I can't understand what to do when I insert the marker.. what do you mean "turn piece"? like we do with short rows in garter stitch? Thank you!!
25.02.2014 - 14:29DROPS Design answered:
Dear Barbara, you insert a marker to mark beg of round, turn to work next row from WS and continue back and forth as stated (i.e. alternately from RS and from WS). Happy knitting!

Knitted DROPS bolero in ”Alpaca Bouclé” with crochet edges in “Cotton Viscose”. Size: S - XXL.
DROPS 137-15 |
|
GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. PATTERN (applies to edge piece): Row 1-4: K all sts. Row 5: * K 1, 2 YO *, repeat from *-*. Row 6: K while slipping the YOs off the needle (= dropped sts). -------------------------------------------------------- BACK PIECE: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 58-64-70-78 sts on circular needle size 4.5 mm with Alpaca Bouclé. Work in GARTER ST back and forth over all sts - see explanation above! REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! At the same time when piece measures 7 cm, inc 1 st in each side – inc on inside of 1 st in each side by making 1 YO, on next row K YOs twisted (i.e. work in back loop of st instead of front) to avoid holes. Repeat inc when piece measures 14-15-16-17 cm = 62-68-74-82 sts. Continue to work until piece measures 19-21-23-25 cm, continue with edge piece. EDGE PIECE: Work next row as follows: K the first 62-68-74-82 sts on needle, cast on 33-36-39-43 new sts (= over armhole), then knit up 1 st in each of the 58-64-70-78 sts along cast on edge and cast on 33-36-39-43 new sts (= over other armhole) = 186-204-222-246 sts in total on needle. K the first 31-34-37-41 sts, insert a marker (= mid back, up towards neck), turn piece. Then work PATTERN – see explanation above – over edge piece back and forth from marker. AT THE SAME TIME when edge measures approx. 3 cm (adjust so that next row is one of the first 4 of pattern), inc 31-34-37-41 sts evenly by making 1 YO after every 6th st (on next row, K all YOs twisted to avoid holes). Repeat inc approx. every 5-5½-6-6½ cm a total of 4 times (there will be 1 more st between every YO every inc) = 310-340-370-410 sts. Continue Pattern until edge measures approx. 20-22-24-26 cm, finish after 4th row in pattern. LOOSELY cast off. Sew tog edge to edge mid back of neck. CROCHET BORDER: Crochet around the entire opening + around the armholes with Cotton Viscose on hook size 3.5 mm. Work as follows: 1 dc in first st, * 3 ch, 1 dc in first ch (= 1 picot), skip approx. 1 cm, fasten with 1 dc *, repeat from *-* all the way around but finish round with 1 sl st in first dc instead of 1 dc. |
