I love this poncho. It's stylish design will appeal to my daughter. It's young and chic. She is disabled and is in wheelchair. Coats are too bulky. this will slip over her shoulders nicely. she is thirty six years old and very fashion conscious. I will surprise her with this.

DROPS Poncho with high neck and cables in ”Vienna” and ”Snow” or "Melody" and "Snow"
DROPS 104-15 |
||||
Rib: * K4, P4 *, repeat from *-*. Garter st: Knit all rows. Pattern: See diagram M.1. Diagram is seen from RS. Poncho: Knit poncho from neck down. Knitted first in the round, and then later split piece and finish back and forth on circular needles. Remember knitting tension! Cast on 88-96-104-112 sts loosely on circular needles size 7 mm with Snow. Knit 1 round, then knit Rib – see explanation above. When piece measures 35 cm inc all 4 K to 6 K = 110-120-130-140 sts. Continue with P over P part, but over K parts (= 6 K) knit cables after diagram M.1. Knit until piece measures approx 45 cm – adjust to 1 pattern repeat in height of M.1. Knit 1 row garter sts at the same time as inc 4-4-6-7 sts evenly = 114-124-136-147 sts. Purl 1 row. Change to Vienna or Melody and K 1 round. When round is completed pick up 1 sts from back of each of first 23-23-24-24 sts on round = 137-147-160-171 sts (an overlap is created mid from of approx 18-18-20-20 cm). Now knit piece back and forth on circular needles. Knit stocking sts with 5 sts garter sts – see explanation above – on each side. Change to circular needle size 7 mm (80 cm). When piece measures approx 50 cm inc 27-27-30-31 sts evenly = 164-174-190-202 sts. Continuing, when piece measures 53 cm inc 24-28-30-32 sts evenly = 188-202-220-234 sts. Then insert 2 marking thread or stitch marker into piece (1 marking thread or stitch marker on each side) as follows: Knit 47-50-55-58 sts, insert 1st marking thread or stitch marker, knit 94-102-110-118 sts, insert 2nd marking thread or stitch holder and knit remaining sts. When piece measures 57 cm inc 1 sts on each side of both marking threads or stitch markers on every 6 -5 -5 -4 cm 6-7-8-9 times in total = 212-230-252-270 sts. Cast off when piece measures approx 94-96-98-100 cm (or desired length). |
