Hi, when you get on to the 3rd row from all treble crochets, it works out to more than 115 stitches by the end because A1.c has 7 stitches, A1.b has 7 stitches per round and then on A1.a has 8 stitches including chain as 1 stitch. Or am I completely misunderstanding the pattern?
24.08.2024 - 10:28DROPS Design answered:
Dear Caitlin, the number of stitches may vary between rows, however, as you can see, due to the crochet pattern there are no real increases or decreases; in row 3 of the charts you have a (2treble crochet-2 chain stitch-2 treble crochet) fan, which all is worked in a single treble crochet, while you skip the chain stitches from the previous row. Then, you work one treble crochet on the chain-2 space at the center of the fan so you have "decreased" 1 stitch. So it won't affect the pattern in any way, as real increases would. Happy crochetting!

Thank you for your reply and for pointing out the error in the pattern. Please could you correct the error. I noticed the mistake was on the US version as well.

Dear Mrs Bishop, except if I'm misuderstanding what you noticed, UK and US pattern (as well as French pattern) say all the same: you will work A.1C one time, then repeat A.1B a total of 12-17 times in width and finish with A.1A (from wrong side) - so that A.1C shows how to start from WS/how to end from RS, A.1B is the pattern to be repeated and A.1A shows how to end from WS/how to start from RS. Happyt crocheting!

I have discovered there is a misprint on this pattern. See my question above. I checked out the French version of this pattern which is correct. The instructions should read: work A1C 12-17x, then A1B and finish with A1A. The number of stitches is correct with this version. I’ve noticed that the pattern is wrong on the US version too!

Hello! If I was to work with 117 chain stitches. The 1st row would consist of 115 trebles. The pattern says row 2 would be A1C then A1B 12-17 times, followed by A1A. As A1C and A1B are 12 stitches and A1A is 7 stitches. Surely the repeat of C and B is only 9 times? 12 x 9 = 108 + 7 (A) = 115. Is this a mistake on the pattern? Or am I missing something?
26.03.2024 - 17:12DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sarah, A.1C is worked once. Then work A.1B 17 times. Then work A.1A once. 6+ 6x17 + 7 = 115 stitches. Happy crochetting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 double/treble crochet is wide. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. CROCHET INFORMATION: At the beginning of each row of treble crochets, work 3 chain stitches, which replace the first treble crochet, i.e., skip the last stitch from the previous row. Work the last treble crochet on the row in the 3rd chain stitch from the beginning of the previous row. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- BLANKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The blanket is worked back and forth. BLANKET: Work 87-117 CHAIN STITCHES – read description above, with hook size 4 mm and DROPS Cotton Merino. Work 1 treble crochet in the 4th chain stitch from the hook (2 treble crochets) – read CROCHET INFORMATION, then1 treble crochet in the remaining 83-113 chain stitches = 85-115 treble crochets. Work pattern as follows (first row from wrong side): A.1C, A.1B 12-17 times, A.1A. Continue this pattern. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION! When the blanket measures 69-79 cm, finishing after row 2 or 4 in the diagrams so the blanket is symmetrical, finish with a row of 1 treble crochet in each treble crochet and in each chain stitch = 85-115 treble crochets. Cut and fasten the strand. |
