Hejsa.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP: Increase on each side of each marker-stitch as follows: Work until there is 1 stitch left before the marker-stitch, make 1 yarn over, knit 3 (marker-stitch is the middle of these 3 stitches), 1 yarn over (= 2 stitches increased). On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted. DECREASE TIP: Decrease on each side of each marker-stitch as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-stitch, slip 1 stitch, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, work 3 stitches (marker-stitch is the middle of these 3 stitches), knit 2 together (= 2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- HAT – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The hat is started with double pointed needles and worked in the round, top down. Change to circular needle when you have enough stitches. Stitches are increased at the top and the hat is worked as a tube, changing colours halfway, then stitches are decreased for the other end. When finished, one end is pushed into the other so the inside of the hat is a different colour from the outside. There is a turn-up of 10 cm which will have a different colour to the rest of the hat. The hat is reversible. HAT: Cast on 6 stitches in all sizes with double pointed needles size 4 mm and wheat DROPS Air. ROUND 1: * Knit 1, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* to end of round. ROUND 2: Knit, with the yarn overs knitted twisted = 12 stitches. ROUND 3: * Knit 3 and insert a marker in the middle stitch of these 3 stitches, 1 yarn over, knit 1, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* to end of round, 3 markers has been added in piece. ROUND 4: Knit, with the yarn overs knitted twisted = 18 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch and increase 1 stitch on each side of each marker-stitch – read INCREASE TIP (= 6 stitches increased). Increase like this every 2nd round a total of 12-13-14 times. When all the increases are finished there are 90-96-102 stitches and the piece measures approx. 12-13-14 cm from the cast-on edge. Allow the markers to follow your work onwards; they are used when decreasing later. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! NOTE! It is important to close the hole in the cast-on edge now; use a needle and strand and tack up and down through the stitches, tighten and fasten the strand well on the wrong side. Continue with stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 34-35-36 cm from the cast-on edge. The hat is half-finished. Change to off white DROPS Air; the piece is now measured from here. Make sure you have fastened the strands well after changing colours as they cannot be fastened once the hat is finished. Continue with stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 22-23-24 cm from the colour-change. Now decrease 1 stitch on each side of each marker-stitch – read DECREASE TIP (= 6 stitches decreased). Decrease every 2nd round a total of 12-13-14 times. When all the decreases are finished there are 18 stitches left. Work the next round as follows: ROUND 1: * Work to 1 stitch after the marker-stitch, slip 2 stitches as if to knit them together, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitches over the knitted stitch *, work from *-* to end of round = 12 stitches. ROUND 2: Knit. ROUND 3: Knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 6 stitches. Cut the strand, thread the yarn through the remaining stitches and tighten. Fasten the strand so it can be pulled through to the wrong side and is invisible on the right side. The hat is folded where the colours changed and one end is pushed into the other. The hat is double, with a different colour on the inside and the outside. Fold the bottom 10 cm up – the hat in wheat will have an off-white turn-up, the hat in off-white will have a wheat turn-up. |
