Would two strands of Baby alpaca silk work as well?
17.01.2019 - 04:11DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs St John, it would since BabyAlpaca Silk belongs to yarn group A just as Alpaca and Kid-Silk, the result will just look different because of difference between the texture each yarn. Read more about alternatives and how to calculate the new amount of yarn here. Happy knitting!

Hello, I would like to realize this model with DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk. Do you think it is possible? Will the edge roll as well? Can I use same needle size? THANKS A LOT!
11.02.2016 - 10:45DROPS Design answered:
Dear Alice, the hat is worked with 2 strands group A, Brushed Alpaca Silk is group C and 2 strands group A = 1 strand group C, so that you can use Brushed Alpaca Silk, but remember to check the tension and read more about alternatives here. Happy knitting!

Knitted DROPS roll edge hat in ”Alpaca” and ”Kid-Silk”.

HAT: Worked in the round on circular needle, switch to double pointed needles when needed. Cast on 92-100 sts with 1 strand Alpaca and 1 strand Kid-Silk on circular needle size 3.5 mm. Work 4 rounds in stocking st. Work next round as follows: * K 1, P 1 *, repeat from *-* the entire round. Now work in stocking st over all sts until finished measurements. When piece measures 15-16 cm, dec 8 sts evenly = 84-92 sts. When piece measures 20-21 cm, dec 12 sts evenly, repeat dec every 2 cm 3 more times (= 4 times in total) = 36-44 sts remain on needle. When piece measures 27-28 cm, work all sts tog 2 by 2 = 18-22 sts. On next round work all sts tog 2 by 2 one more time = 9-11 sts remain on row. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. |
