GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. GARTER ST PATTERN: * P 3 rounds, K 3 rounds *, repeat from *-*. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Diagrams show all rows in pattern from RS. ---------------------------------------------------------- BAG: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 104 sts on circular needle size 9 mm with Snow. Work as follows: * P 2, A.1 (= 8 sts), P 2, 14 sts GARTER ST PATTERN – see explanation above, P 2, A.2 (= 8 sts), P 2, 14 sts garter st pattern *, repeat from *-* one more time. Continue like this until piece measures 63 cm. Now work straps as follows: Work the first 12 sts on needle, cast off the next 40 sts, slip the next 12 sts on a stitch holder (work them first), cast off the next 40 sts. Work back and forth over the 12 sts on needle as follows: 2 sts in GARTER ST – see explanation above, continue with A.1, 2 sts in garter st. Continue until strap measures 90 cm. Cast off. Slip the next 12 sts on stitch holder back on circular needle size 9 mm, work as the other strap. Fasten the two straps in each side (over the cable on the same side). Sew tog bag at the bottom. FELTING: Place the bag in the washing machine with a detergent without enzymes and optical bleach. Wash at 40 degrees with normal spin but no pre-wash. After wash shape the bag to the right size while still wet and leave to dry flat. At subsequent wash, wash at regular wool programme. AFTER FELTING: If the piece is not felted enough and is too big: Wash the piece one more time in the washing machine while it is still wet add a terry towel that measures approx. 50 x 70 cm - NOTE: Do not use a short program. If the piece has been felted too much and is too small: While the piece is still wet stretch it to the correct measurements, if the piece is dry, make sure to soak it first. Remember: All subsequent washes are as a normal wool garment. |
