------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.6. Choose diagram for your size in A.6. HEEL DECREASE: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until there are 10 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn the piece. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 10 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn the piece. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit until there are 9 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn the piece. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 9 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn the piece. Continue to decrease like this, working until there is 1 stitch less each time before slipping a stitch and until there are 15 stitches left on the needle. -------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles. SOCK: Cast on 72 stitches in all sizes with double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and blue lagoon. Knit 1 round then work 10 rounds of rib (= knit 1 / purl 1). Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm and work pattern in the round according to diagram A.1 (= 6 repeats on the round). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.1 has been completed, knit 1 round with blue lagoon where you decrease 8-0-0 stitches evenly spaced = 64-72-72 stitches. Continue working A.2 over all stitches (= 8-9-9 repeats of A.2 in width). Continue until A.2 has been worked 3 times in height. Keep the first 0-2-5 stitches on the needles, place the next 29-33-35 stitches on a thread and keep the last stitches on the needles = 35-39-37 stitches on the needles for the heel. Work A.3 over the heel stitches, AT THE SAME TIME decrease 2-6-4 stitches evenly spaced on the first row = 33 stitches for the heel in all sizes. When A.3 has been completed continue with A.4. Work A.4 until the heel measures 5-5½-6 cm, insert 1 marker. Then work HEEL DECREASE – see description above (continue with A.4). After the heel decrease knit up 13-13-14 stitches on each side of the heel with blue lagoon and place the 29-33-35 stitches from the thread back on the needles = 70-74-78 stitches. The 29-33-35 stitches on the top of the foot are worked as follows: A.5, A.6 (see diagram for your size), A.5 and the stitches under the foot are continued in A.4. AT THE SAME TIME decrease on each side of the 29-33-35 stitches on top of foot as follows: Knit together the 2 stitches before the 29-33-35 stitches with the colour in the current stripe and knit twisted together the 2 stitches after the 29-33-35 stitches with the colour in the current stripe (= 2 stitches decreased). Repeat this decrease every 2nd round 6 times in all sizes = 58-62-66 stitches. Continue the pattern until the piece measures 18-19-22 cm from the marker on the heel (there are 4-5-5 cm left to finished length). Continue as follows: Work A.5 as before over the 3 stitches on each side and knit A.6 and A.4 as before. AT THE SAME TIME decrease for the toe on each side of A.5 on each side as follows: Work until there are 2 stitches left before A.5, knit 2 together with off white, work A.5, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1with off white, pass the slipped stitch over (= 4 stitches decreased). Repeat the decrease on each side every 2nd round a total of 4-7-7 times and then every round a total of 5-3-3 times = 22-22-26 stitches left on the needles. On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 using off white = 11-11-13 stitches. Cut the strand and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. Work the other sock in the same way. |
