Må jo bli feil i mønster A3 hvis det skal felles midt oppå foten? Skjønner ikke dette helt.

After a sufficient time to recover from the trauma of not being able to work out this pattern, I undid the entire thing and started again. I avoided the smaller and larger sizes and went for the medium size. This time it worked perfectly. Perhaps the pattern maker needs to put in some effort to ensure the socks turn out as in the photos when making a different size. I don’t know who, in my family, will get these lovely socks because I wasn’t able to make them in my chosen sizing. Cinderella?

Hei!

I think I have discovered the error in the pattern. When I worked the small and large sizes for the heel decrease on a sample, they did not finish with blue at each end of the 13 stitches, as it does at each end of the 11 stitches in the medium size pattern. By picking up an even no. of stitches(12,14,14) I would then have blue against the A.2 in the medium size, which is correct, and white against the A.2 in the small and large sizes. Which will not look right. Do you agree?

Dear hetty, Thank you so much for your input. We are double checking the pattern. Happy Knitting!

I tried to knit these, but I came to a problem with the heel decrease. Because of the A5 stripes I had a large hole at every decrease, in spite of my twists of the yarns. I also had white on the edges which meant the stripe was out when I picked up stitches later. I had 5 attempts to do this section. Then I abandoned it. Can you give clearer instruction for this heel decrease, saying which colour is knitted for each stitch? I have knitted many socks in the past from Garnstudio patterns.

Manon hat recht. Die Socken sind viel zu gross für Grösse 35-37. :(

Liebe Frau Sheldrake, Stimmt Ihre Maschenprobe?

The size is not correct and I have the same woll as in the description. 64 & 60 stitches for every size is much to big and certainly for my size 38, even with smaller needles. I'm very dissapointed.

INFORMATION FOR PATTERN: PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.5. Work the entire pattern in stocking stitch. HEEL DECREASE: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until 7-8-7 stitches remain on needle, slip next stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until 7-8-7 stitches remain on needle, slip next stitch as if to purl, purl 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch purled, turn piece. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit until 6-7-6 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl until 6-7-6 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to purl, purl 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch purled, turn piece. Continue decrease like this with 1 stitch less before each decrease until there are 13-11-13 stitches on needle. DECREASE TIP (applies to toe): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of middle stitch in A.2 as follows: Work until 1 stitch remains before A.2, knit 2 together with off white, work middle stitch in A.2 as before, knit the next 2 twisted together with off white (= 2 stitches decreased). -------------------------------------------------------- SOCK: Worked in the round on double pointed needles, top down. Cast on 64 stitches in all sizes on double pointed needles size 3 mm with dark blue. Knit 1 round. Then work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) for 2-3-3 cm. Knit 1 round while decreasing 4 stitches evenly (knit every 15th and 16th stitch together) = 60 stitches. Switch to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and work A.1 in the round. When A.1 has been worked, piece measures approx. 5-6-6 cm. Work next round as follows: A.2 (= 3 stitches), A.3 (= 27 stitches), A.2 (= 3 stitches) and A.4 (= 27 stitches). Continue pattern like this. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When last round in A.4 remain, decrease 4 stitches evenly over the 27 stitches in A.4 (work the other stitches as before without decrease) = 56 stitches and piece measures approx. 14-15-15 cm. Slip stitches in A.2 + A.3 + A.2 on a stitch holder (= 33 stitches on top of foot on stitch holder). There are now 23 stitch on needle in all sizes for heel. Cast on 1 new stitch at beginning of row with dark blue, work A.5A over the first 22 stitches on heel, work A.5B (= 1 stitch) and cast on 1 new stitch at the end of row with dark blue – the new stitches are edge stitches and are worked with dark blue. Continue A.5A/A.5B back and forth over the 25 stitches. When 5½-6-6 cm have been worked over heel stitches, insert 1 marker in the middle of row. Then work HEEL DECREASE - see explanation above (continue A.5 while decreasing for heel). After heel decrease work first round as follows: Continue A.5 over the 13-11-13 heel stitches, pick up 12-14-14 stitches along the side of heel, continue A.2 + A.3 + A.2 as before over the 33 stitches on top of foot and pick up 12-14-14 stitches along the other side on heel = 70-72-74 stitches. Continue pattern like this with A.5 under foot, A.3 on top of foot and A.2 in each side. AT THE SAME TIME decrease on each side of the middle 31 stitches on top of foot as follows: Knit the last 2 stitches before the middle 31 stitches on top of foot together with off white and knit the first 2 stitches after the middle 31 stitches twisted together with off white. Decrease like this every other round 6 times in total = 58-60-62 stitches. Work pattern until piece measures approx. 17-19-22 cm from marker on heel (approx. 5 cm remain until finished measurements, try the sock on and work to desired length). On next round knit with off white over the middle 27 stitches on top of foot (work the remaining stitches as before). Then work as follows until finished measurements: Continue A.5A/A.5B over stitches under foot, continue A.2 in the side, work A.5A over the next 26 stitches on top of foot, work A.5B (= 1 stitch), continue A.2 in the side and A.5A over the remaining stitches under foot. When piece measures approx. 18-20-23 cm from marker on heel, decrease for toe on each side of middle stitch in A.2 in each side – read DECREASE TIP (= 4 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every round 10-11-12 times in total = 18-16-14 stitches. On next round knit all stitches together 2 by 2 = 9-8-7 stitches. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Knit another sock the same way. |
