In the section where you K2tog at the beginning of the row, you do not specify if the stitch on your right needle counts as part of the following K10 stitches or are the following K10 separate from the K2tog ?????

Dear Louise, you have to first K2 tog, then K 10 sts, so that you will have 11 sts on needle. Happy knitting!

DROPS 177-15 |

SHAWL: The piece is worked back and forth in garter stitch on the circular needle. Cast on 3 stitches with circular needle size 4 mm and off white and knit 2 rows. Continue to work as follows: ROW 1 (= from the wrong side): Knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit 1, 1 yarn over and knit 1 = 5 stitches. The yarn overs are always worked knit on the next row because there should be holes. ROW 2 (= from the right side): Knit 2 together, knit until there is 1 stitch left, make 1 yarn over and knit 1. ROW 3: Knit. ROW 4: Knit until there are 2 stitches left, make 1 yarn over, knit 1, make 1 yarn over and knit 1 = 7 stitches. ROW 5: Knit. Repeat rows 2- 5 until there are 45 stitches on the needle. SHORT ROWS with shoreline: Insert 1 marker in the 32nd stitch from the right side. Change to shoreline, continue to work the short rows as follows: ROW 1 (= from the right side): Knit. ROW 2 (= from the wrong side): Knit. ROW 3: Knit 32 stitches. ROW 4: Turn and knit 31 stitches back, knit 2 stitches in the last stitch. ROW 5: Knit 29 stitches. ROW 6: Turn and knit 28 stitches back, knit 2 stitches in the last stitch. Continue with short rows and garter stitch, turn 4 stitches earlier each row from the right side and increase 1 stitch at the end of every row from the wrong side. Continue in this way until you have worked 11 stitches before turning, turn and knit 2 stitches in the last stitch. Knit 2 rows across all the stitches. Continue to work as follows – from the right side: ROW 1: Knit 2 together (= there is 1 stitch on the needle), knit 10. ROW 2: Turn and knit back. ROW 3: Knit 2 together (= there is 1 stitch on the needle), knit 13. ROW 4: Turn and knit back. ROW 5: Knit 2 together (= there is 1 stitch on the needle), knit 16. ROW 6: Turn and knit back. Continue with short rows and garter stitch, turn 4 stitches closer to the stitch with the marker each time you turn and knit 2 together at the beginning of each row from the right side. Continue in this way until you have worked 32 stitches before turning, turn and knit back. Knit 1 row from the right side and 1 row from the wrong side = 45 stitches on the needle. RIDGES with increases in off white. ROW 1 (= from the right side): Knit 2 together, knit until there is 1 stitch left, make 1 yarn over and knit 1. ROW 2 (= from the wrong side): Knit. ROW 3: Knit until there are 2 stitches left, make 1 yarn over, knit 1, make 1 yarn over and knit 1 = 47 stitches. ROW 4: Knit. ROW 5: Knit 2 together, knit until there is 1 stitch left, make 1 yarn over and knit 1. ROW 6: Knit until there are 20 stitches left on the needle, turn. ROW 7: Knit until there are 2 stitches left, make 1 yarn over, knit 1, make 1 yarn over and knit 1 = 49 stitches. ROW 8: Knit. Repeat rows 1- 8, 3 more times = 61 stitches. Change to shoreline and work short rows in the same way as before. Continue to work alternately ridges with increases in off white and short rows with shoreline. Continue until you have worked 10 repeats with short rows in shoreline = 189 stitches on the needle (or to desired measurement), and loosely cast off. |
