Tell me, please, when I skip 1 ch (at the begining of mittens) shoud I use htr or sl ? (i.e I make 1 ch, then....?)

Dear Jana, on very 1st round of the mittens, you will skip chain stitches evenly to avoid fundation chain being too tight, ie work: 2 chains (=1st htr), then repeat: *1 htr in each of the next 4-5 chains, skip 1 chain (= leave this chain unworked)* = there are 4-5 htr worked over 5-6 chains), repeat from *-*. Happy crocheting!

CROCHET INFO: At beg of every htr round, replace first htr with 2 ch and finish round with 1 sl st in 2nd ch. At beg of every dc round, replace first dc with 1 ch and finish round with 1 sl st in first ch. At beg of every tr round, replace first tr with 3 ch and finish round with 1 sl st in first 3rd ch. RELIEF HTR: Work 1 htr around 1 htr on previous round (i.e. do not work in loops but around htr) as follows: 1 YO (the way as when you work 1 normal htr), insert hook between the one worked and the one to be worked around, and up between the one to be worked around and next htr (i.e. between 2 htr and around htr), get the yarn, work the rest of htr as usual. PATTERN-1: ROUND 1: Work 1 tr in back loop of every dc. ROUND 2: Work 1 dc in back loop of every tr. Repeat rounds 1 to 2 until finished measurements. 3 TR TOG: Work 3 tr tog as follows: Work 1 tr around ch but wait with last pull through, work 2 tr around ch the same way, make 1 YO and pull yarn through all sts on hook. DECREASE TIP: Dec 1 tr by working 2 tr tog as follows: Work 1 tr in back loop of next dc but wait with last pull through, work 1 tr in back loop of next dc the same way, make 1 YO and pull yarn through all 3 sts on hook. ---------------------------------------------------------- LEFT MITTEN: Work 35-36 ch on hook size 4.5 mm with Nepal and form 1 ring with 1 sl st in first ch. Work 2 ch – READ CROCHET INFO, * work 1 htr in each of the next 4-5 ch, skip 1 ch*, repeat from *-* the entire round, finish with 1 sl st in 2nd ch = 28-30 htr. Then work as follows: Work * 1 htr, 1 RELIEF HTR - see explanation above *, repeat from *-* the entire round. Continue like this, make sure that the relief htr are worked above each other vertically. When piece measures 3 cm, work 1 round with 1 dc in back loop of every htr = 28-30 dc. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION! Then work PATTERN-1 - see explanation above - over all sts AT THE SAME TIME dec 1-0 sts = 27-30 tr. When 3-4 round have been worked with pattern-1, inc 1 dc/tr for thumb on each side of the first dc/tr on round - inc 1 dc/tr by working 2 dc/tr in same dc/tr. Repeat inc on each side of this st every round 4-5 times in total = 35-40 tr on round (thumb sts = 9-11 tr). Cut the yarn. Skip 5-6 tr, work pattern-1 as before until 4-5 tr remain, 1 ch, skip 4-5 tr, finish with 1 sl st in first dc = 26-29 dc and 1 ch on round. Continue with pattern-1 as before, work 3 TR TOG into 1 tr - see explanation above - around ch = 27-30 tr. When mitten measures 20-22 cm, adjust so that last round is with dc (you can try the mitten on, it should be approx. 3 cm remaining until finished measurements). Continue to work as follows: ROUND 1: Work 1 tr in back loop of every dc AT THE SAME TIME work every 2nd and 3rd tr tog - READ DECREASE TIP = 18-20 tr. ROUND 2: Work 1 round with 1 dc in back loop of every tr. ROUND 3: Work tr tog 2 by 2 = 9-10 dc. ROUND 4: Work dc tog 2 by 2. Cut the yarn, baste it up and down through sts, pull yarn to tighten and fasten tightly. THUMB: ROUND 1: Work 1 dc in back loop of each of the 9-11 thumb sts, then work 3 dc behind thumb = 12-14 dc. ROUND 2: Work 1 tr in back loop of every dc. ROUND 3: Work 1 dc in back loop of every tr. ROUND 4: Work 1 tr in back loop of every dc. ROUND 5: Work 1 dc in back loop of every tr. ROUND 6: Work tr tog 2 by 2 = 6-7 dc. Cut the yarn, baste it up and down through sts, pull yarn to tighten and fasten tightly. RIGHT MITTEN: Work as left but inc for thumb on each side of last st on round. |
