How pretty! It looks crocheted? I love the simple pattern, and would love to make it in many color combinations.

Knitted DROPS shawl in 2 threads "Kid-Silk".
DROPS 129-8 |
||||||||||||||||||||||
DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE SIZE 4.5 mm (80 cm) - or size needed to get 18 sts x 32 rows in garter st with 2 threads Kid-Silk = 10 x 10 cm. -------------------------------------------------------- LACE PATTERN: (ROW 1: Knit up st for new stripe from RS). ROW 2: K from WS ROW 3-10: K from RS, K from WS ROW 11: K 1, * 1 YO, K 2 tog *, repeat from *-*. ROW 12: K from WS ROW 13-18: K from RS, K from WS ROW 19: K 1, * 1 YO, K 2 tog *, repeat from *-*. ROW 20: K from WS -------------------------------------------------------- Worked back and forth on circular needle. The entire shawl is worked in garter st, i.e. K all rows. Start with half a domino square and knit up sts on each side in stripes until finished measurements. See X.1 for colour change and how to work the shawl. SHAWL: Cast on 45 sts on needle size 4.5 mm with 2 threads light greyish green. Insert a marker in the 23rd st (= the middle). Continue to work as follows: HALF A DOMINO SQUARE: Row 1 (= WS): K, K last 2 sts on needle tog. Row 2 (= RS): K until 1 st remain before marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, K until 2 sts remain, K the last 2 sts on needle tog. Repeat 1st and 2nd row, i.e. dec 2 sts in the middle of the square and 1 st in sides on every other row until 1 st remain on needle, cut the thread and pull it through the last st. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! STRIPE 1: Knit up 25 sts on circular needle 4.5 mm with 2 threads beige from RS on the left short side of half the domino square (see X.1) while AT THE SAME TIME inc 1 st at the end of row by K 2 sts in the last knit up st (= 26 sts). Work LACE PATTERN (start on 2nd row) - see explanation above - while AT THE SAME TIME inc 1 st at the end of every row from RS by K 2 sts in the last st (work the inc sts in the pattern) = 35 sts. Last row is from WS, slip sts on a stitch holder. STRIPE 2: Knit up 25 sts from right short side of the half domino square with 2 threads light beige, continue to knit up 1 st in every ridge (2 rows in garter st) from short side of stripe 1 (= 10 sts) = 35 sts. Work lace pattern (start on 2nd row) while AT THE SAME TIME inc at the end of every row from WS = 45 sts. Last row is from WS, slip sts on a stitch holder. STRIPE 3: Knit up 1 st in every ridge from short side of stripe 2 (= 10 sts) with 2 threads grey blue and slip sts on stitch holder from stripe 1 back on needle while AT THE SAME TIME inc at the end of row by K 2 sts in the last st on needle = 46 sts. Work lace pattern (start on 2nd row) while AT THE SAME TIME inc at the end of every row from RS = 55 sts. Last row is from WS, slip sts on a stitch holder. Continue inc as on 2nd and 3rd stripe until a total of 16 stripes have been worked. See X.1 for colour change. NOTE! At the end of stripe 15 and 16, LOOSELY cast off with K from RS instead of slipping stitches on a stitch holder. To avoid a tight cast off edge, 1 YO after approx. every 4th st can be made and cast off as a regular st. |
