Questa tecnica di avvio è simile all'avvio con la codina lunga (long tail cast on), ma invece si lavora con 2 capi di diverso colore. Iniziare con un nodo scorsoio per tenere i capi doppi, che verrà in seguito rimosso. Avviare con 2 colori è una buona tecnica con capi a 2 colori, come gli intarsi, i motivi a fair-isle, le strisce o il lavoro ad intreccio.

Dear Mrs Figueroa Mullane, in the Perly May jumper, cast on the sts with 2 strands of yarn as there were just one (there will be 2 strands of yarn for each st), then continue working with only 1 yarn. Casting off that way with 2 strands of yarn will avoid a tight cast-on edge. Happy knitting!
