How to work yarn over differently to get different directions

In this DROPS video we show how to work yarn over differently so that they are towards the right or towards the left, as it is done in the hat in DROPS 234-12. We show 1 round where we knit the yarn over and 2 rounds where we purl the yarn over. Work the yarn over like this: AFTER MARKER: Work yarn over in back loop of stitches, stitch is twisted towards the left. It should not make a hole! BEFORE MARKER: Slip yarn over off the needle and put it back the opposite way, and then work in front loop of stitch, stitches is twisted towards the right. It should not make a hole! Work the increased stitches in rib knit 2/purl 2 - i.e. the first 2 times knit the increased stitches, the next 2 times purl them. The hat in DROPS 234-12 is worked in DROPS Karisma, but in the video we work with a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. You must read a pattern to be able to follow this video properly. How to increase stitches in a cable

In this DROPS video we show to increase stitches in the cable stitches, like the raglan increases is done in the “White Heron” sweater in DROPS 254-7. In the video we work 7 stitches (2 garter stitches + knit 1 + purl 2 + knit 2), before A.1 (cable), then knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), A.2 and finish the row with 7 stitches (knit 2 + purl 2 + knit 1 + 2 garter stitches). Work A.1 like this: Place 4 stitches on cable needle behind the piece, knit 2, work 3 stitches in each of the 4 stitches on cable needle (work front, back, front loop of each stitch). 8 increased stitches. How to increase 1 stitch symmetrical

In this DROPS video we show a way to make a symmetrical increase that gives 1 new stitch, we show it twice on the same row. Follow steps 1-4 below: 1. Loosely slip the first stitch on the left needle onto the right needle as if to purl. Hold the knitting yarn behind the work. 2. Insert the left needle behind the slipped stitch and between the slipped stitch and the first stitch on the right needle. 3. Make a yarn over on the right needle and pull the yarn over through the stitch to make 1 new stitch on the right needle. 4. Drop the outermost part of the stitch of the left needle and then knit the second strand of the stitch through the front loop. You have now increased 1 stitch We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. This technique can be used in several patterns.

How to increase in an outermost stitch

In this DROPS video we show how we increase in an outermost stitch. First, we show how we increase before the maker-thread, then after the marker-thread. Increase before maker-thread: Work to the marker-thread, knit 1 in the strand of the stitch lying 2 rounds below outermost stitch on the right needle. Increase after maker-thread: Knit 1 in the loop lying around the outermost stitch on the left needle (i.e., stitch from previous round). We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. How to knit 1 – purl 1 – knit 1 in the same stitch

In this DROPS video we show how we increase 2 stitches by knitting 3 stitches in 1 stitch. We work stockinette stitch and back and forth. From right side, work 3 stitches in same stitch as follows: Knit 1, purl 1, knit 1 in the same stitch, drop the stitch worked off the needle. From wrong side, work stockinette over the new stitches. How to work increases from the wrong side

In this DROPS video, we show how to increase with yarn over from the right side, both before a mark and after a mark, and how to work the increases from the wrong side. To get the yarn over to face neatly towards each other from the wrong side, work like this before the marker: Work in the back loop of the yarn over (no hole). After the marker work like this: Slip the yarn over off the left needle, then replace it the other way round (insert the left needle from the back when replacing it).
