How to weave in ends when working a new colour in the round

In this DROPS video we show how you can weave in ends on your work.

When knitting with multiple colors or when just changing from one to another color, you can weave in the end as you continue with the new color. When you start the new color you want to make sure to twist the loose end around your previous color to avoid a hole, then place the working yarn behind the tail, and pick up the yarn alternating above and under the tail end to weave it in. Weave for about 4-6 sts and then you can cut the remaining tail. This way you don't have to fasten the threads at the end.

Liebe Armanda, wenn Sie den Faden doppelt verstricken, also die Maschen mit doppeltem Faden abstricken, wird die Stelle dicker, und je nach Garn ist das auch nach dem Waschen weiterhin sichtbar. Wenn Sie aber den Anfangsfaden der neuen Farbe wie im Video gezeigt auf der Rückseite der Arbeit mitführen, dann ist diese Stelle auf der Vorderseite nicht sichtbar. Der Anfangsfaden wird ja, wie im Video gezeigt, in einer "geraden Linie" mitgeführt und nicht als Masche gestrickt.

Bonjour Coraline, seule la main dans laquelle on tient le fil est différente, le reste se passera de la même façon, c'est le même principe, quelle que soit la façon de tricoter. Bon tricot!

Dag Mieke, Voor dikker garen en het wisselen van meerdere kleuren is er niet echt een andere methode voor het wegwerken van de draden via deze weefmethode, zodat er geen bobbel/verdikking zal ontstaan. Je zult altijd enigszins een bobbel houden. Deze is bij dikker garen natuurlijk wat dikker, maar in verhouding tot het breiwerk hetzelfde als bij dun garen en zal het niet opvallen als het kledingstuk gedragen wordt.

The tails will show and also may come out again when washing and wearing. In this DROPS video we show a pair of mittens before and after felting. To prevent the thumb from felting together, turn the mitten to WS (wrong side) and place a narrow silk ribbon along the thumb. Secure the ribbon with a safety pin – NB: insert the pin vertically towards the tip of the thumb so it is easy to remove after felting. Turn the mitten back to RS (right side) before felting. 1. Place the mittens in the washing machine with a wool detergent that does not contain enzymes or optical brighteners. 2. Wash at 40 °C / 104 °F, normal spin, no pre-wash. 3. Stretch and shape the mittens to the correct measurements while still wet. 4. If they turn out too small: soak in water until completely wet, then stretch back to the desired size. 5. Afterwards, the mittens can be washed as any other wool garment.
