PATTERN: See diagram M.1. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS.

DECREASING TIP: Dec 1 st on each side of the first repeat of M.1 – beg 2 sts before M.1: slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso, M.1, K2 tog.

HEEL DECREASES:
ROW 1 (= RS): Work row until 6-7-7 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso, turn piece.
ROW 2 (= WS): Work row until 6-7-7 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to P, P1, psso, turn piece.
ROW 3 (= RS): Work row until 5-6-6 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso, turn piece.
ROW 4 (= WS): Work row until 5-6-6 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to P, P1, psso, turn piece.
Continue dec like this with 1 less st before each dec until there are 14-14-16 sts left on row.
----------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------
SOCK: Worked in the round on double pointed needles.
Cast on 234-250-266 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with Alpaca. K 2 rounds and work next round as follows: K2, * K2 tog, K2 *, repeat from *-* = 176-188-200 sts. K 1 round and on next round K2 tog across the round = 88-94-100 sts. K 1 round, P 1 round and K 1 round. Insert a marker at beg of round. Continue in rib, K1/P1, for 2 cm. K 1 round, AT THE SAME TIME dec 6 sts evenly = 82-88-94 sts. Continue as follows: 18-20-22 stocking sts, M.1 (= mid back), 25-28-31 stocking sts, M.1 (= mid front) and 7-8-9 stocking sts. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 8 cm dec 1 st on each side of the first repeat of M.1 - SEE DECREASING TIP – and repeat the dec on every 2 cm a total 14-15-16 times = 54-58-62 sts. Continue until piece measures approx 40-42-44 cm – adjust to a full repeat of M.1. Now keep the first 24-26-28 sts on round for heel and slip the last 30-32-34 sts on a stitch holder (= mid upper foot). Work stocking st back and forth on heel sts for 5-5.5-6 cm. Insert a marker in piece. Now dec for heel – see above. After heel dec pick up 13-14-16 sts on each side of heel and slip the 30-32-34 sts from stitch holder back on needle = 70-74-82 sts. Now insert a marker on each side of the 30-32-34 sts on upper foot and continue in the round in stocking st and M.1 mid upper foot, AT THE SAME TIME dec each side as follows: K tog the last 2 sts before the first marker into back of loop, and K tog the first 2 sts after the second marker. Repeat the dec on every other round a total of 9-9-11 times = 52-56-60 sts. Continue until piece measures 18-20-22 cm from marker on heel (= approx 4-4-5 cm remain). Now insert a marker each side with 26-28-30 sts on upper foot and 26-28-30 sts under foot. Continue in stocking st, AT THE SAME TIME dec 1 st on each side of both markers as follows: K tog 2 sts before marker and K tog 2 sts into back of loop after marker. Repeat the dec each side on every other round a total of 5-6-7 times and then on every round 5-4-4 times = 12-16-16 sts left on round. Cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten.

Just checking ... I prefer knitting socks 'toe-up', does this mean I should turn around the lace pattern? Sounds logical to me, but just want to make sure I get it right.

DROPS Design 11.05.2013 kl. 09:14:

Dear Esther, you are correct, diagram is read from top to toe, if you'd like to work it toe up, you should read it from top down. Happy knitting!

Esther 07.03.2013 - 12:29:

These are just lovely! Are there other yarns suitable for these, like a cotton mix? Just curious which yarns you'd be able to use as well for these. The off white colour is just perfect.

Dear Esther, click on the tab "Alternatives" on the right side of the picture to have an overview of all qualities having same tension and their composition. You can then click on the link to have more informations about these yarns. Happy knitting!

Vaatasin põlviku mustrit ja mitte ei saa aru. mitu silma tuleb siis keskele kokku, millest moodustub üks silm. Mõtlen mustrilehel seda paksu, kolmnurkset joont. Soov on väiksele ( 2,9.a. )tüdrukule sõrmkindaid kududa. Arvasin, et kinda peale oleks see hästi sobinud. Kas saaks abi? Kaunist advendi aega!

Superbes chaussettes. Trés agréable à tricoter. Les explications sont claires et précises. Merci

DROPS Design NL 01.03.2009 - 09:40:

Hoi Marion.
