Knitting Tension: 19 sts x 25 rows on needles size 4 mm with double thread in stocking stitch = 10 x 10cm.
Lace border:
1st row: K2, 2 yo, K2, turn the piece
2nd row: K2 into first st, K2, P1 (in second yo), K2, turn the piece
3rd row: K7, turn the piece
4th row: Cast off 3 sts, K4, turn the piece

Decreasing for heel:
1st row (= RS): Knit until there are 7-8-9 sts left on row, K2 tog, turn
2nd row (= WS): Slip the first st as if to knit, knit until there are 7-8-9 sts left on row, P2 tog, turn
3rd row (= RS): Slip the first st as if to knit, knit until there are 6-7-8 sts left on row, K2 tog, turn
4th row (= WS): Slip the first st as if to knit, knit until there are 6-7-8 sts left on row, P2 tog, turn.
Continue like this with 1 less st left before each dec until there are 6 sts left on row.

Sock: Knitted round on circular needles. Cast on 55-60-65 sts on double pointed needle size 4 mm with 2 threads Alpaca and knit 1 round. Continue in Rib K2/P3. When piece measures 3 cm dec 1 st in every other P section by P tog the first 2 P sts = 49-54-58 sts. When piece measures 5 cm dec 1 st in the remaining P sections (= K2/P2 on round) = 44-48-52 sts. When piece measures 14-16-18 cm put the middle 22-26-26 sts - make sure there are K2 each side – on a thread (= mid upper foot). Knit 5-5.5-6 cm stocking sts over the remaining 22-22-26 sts (= heel), at the same time adjusting no of heel sts to 18-20-22 on the first row. Now decrease for heel – see above. After the heel dec pick up 11-11-13 sts on each side of the heel and put all sts on double pointed needles = 50-54-58 sts. Knit Rib over the middle 22-22-26 sts on top of foot and stocking sts over remaining At the same time dec as follows: Knit tog the 2 sts before the Rib and knit tog the 2 sts after the Rib into back of st on every other row a total of 4 times = 42-46-50 sts. Continue until foot measures 18-20-22 cm from the heel. Insert a marking thread each side (21-23-25 sts between marking threads) and dec for toe on both sides of each marking thread as follows: K2 tog, K1, MT, K1, K2 tog into back of st. Repeat the dec on every row a total of 9-9-10 times = 6-10-10 sts. On next row knit all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the thread and pull it through remaining sts. Sew.

Lace border: Cast on 4 sts on needle size 4 mm with 2 threads Alpaca. Knit the border – see above. Cast off when border measures 27-29-32 cm (measured on the shorter side – make sure the length of the border fits the sock’s upper edge). Sew the border tog to form a ring and sew it to the sock’s upper edge with the “spikes” pointing upwards.
