Pattern instructions

Knitting Tension: 20sts x 26 rows on needles size 4 mm in stocking st = 10x10cm.

Pattern: See diagram. Pattern is read from right to left, and is seen from RS. Pattern is worked in stocking st.

Sweater is knitted on circ needle and armholes are then cut open. Cast on 204 (214) sts on long cir needles size 3mm with black.
Work 1 round in P, then 4 cm of M.1. Work 1 round in black. Change to circ needle size 4mm. Work M.2 and inc 36 (50) sts evenly on first round = 240 (264) sts. Remember to check your tension. Complete M.2, then continue as follows: M.3, M.4, M.2, M.3, M.4, M.2, then finish off in black.
At the same time when piece measures 46 (47) cm, inc 5 sts each side (these sts are for cutting later and are not worked into pattern – place 1 repeat of M.4 centre front). Continue until piece measures 68 (70) cm. Cast off centre 16 (18) sts for front neck, and finish piece working back and forth on needle. Dec each side of neck on every other row as follows: 3 sts twice, 2 sts 3 times, 1 st twice. At the same time when piece measures 74 (75) cm, cast off centre 40 (42) sts for back neck. Next row: Dec 2 sts each side for neck . Continue until piece measures 76 (77) cm. Cast off.

Sleeve: Cast on 48 (52) sts on short circ needle size 3mm with black. Work 1 round in P, then 4 cm of M.1. Work 1 round in black. Change to circ needle size 4mm, work M.2 and at the same time increase 10 (8) sts evenly on first round = 58 (60) sts.
Work pattern as body (place 1 repeat of M.3 and M.4 on centre top of sleeve).
At the same time after M.1, inc sts. underneath arm as follows: 2 sts 31(30) times;
For S/M: alternatively on *every *3, 3 and 4th round,
For M/L: alternatively every 3rd and 4th round*.
= 120 (120) sts.
Continue until piece measures 48 (47) cm (adjust to pattern). Work 2 cm reverse stocking st. This is the facing to cover the cut edge on body. Cast off.

Assembly: Mark the middle of the increased stitches each side with a thread. Sew two machine seams each side of the thread ½ stitch away from thread, then ½ stitch from first seam. Cut open for armhole. Sew shoulder seams.
Pick up 100 sts around neck on circ needle size 3mm with black. Work 6 cm in M.1. Finish off in black, work 1 round stocking st, 1 round P. Cast off.
Insert sleeves into body RS facing as follows: sew alternatively 1 stitch in arm facing and I stitch in the body other side of machined seam. Turn sweater inside out and sew sleeve facing over the cut edge on the body by hand.
