Hej!

Dear Mrs Ross, body is worked back and forth on circular needle, you can then just use straight needle instead, for sleeves, this lesson should help you adapting pattern. Happy knitting!

Hej, hur menar ni i bakstyckedelen.

Hei Sarah. Du feller av i HVER side, altså 2 masker 1 gang = 2 masker i hver side = 4 masker. Så 1 maske 1 gang = 1 maske i hver side = 2 masker. Du feller av 3 masker i hver side = 6 masker tilsammen. 70 masker - 6 felte masker = 64 masker. mvh DROPS Design

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. BANDS WITH I-CORD: START OF ROW: Work the band as follows: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with yarn in front, knit 1, work 4 garter stitches. END OF ROW: Work the band as follows: Work until there are 6 stitches left on the row, work 4 garter stitches, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with yarn in front, knit 1. Work like this from both the right and wrong side. V-NECK: All decreases are worked from the right side! Decrease for the V-neck inside the 6 band-stitches and 1 stocking stitch on each front piece: LEFT FRONT PIECE: Work until there are 9 stitches left on the row, knit 2 together, knit 1, work the band stitches as before. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Work the band stitches as before, knit 1, slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. INCREASE TIP (for sleeves): Increase 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread: Work until there is 1 stitch left before the marker-thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over. On the next round, knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. BUTTONHOLES: Work the buttonholes on the right band. 1 BUTTONHOLE = knit together 4th and 5th stitches from the edge, make 1 yarn over. On the next row (wrong side), knit the yarn over to leave a hole. Work the buttonholes when the piece measures S: 6, 18, and 30 cm M: 6, 15, 23 and 31 cm L: 6, 15, 23 and 31 cm XL: 6, 15, 24 and 32 cm XXL: 6, 15, 24 and 33 cm XXXL: 6, 16, 25 and 34 cm ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The pattern uses both long and short circular needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The jacket is worked bottom up with bands on each side, back and forth as far as the armholes. The piece is divided and the front and back pieces finished separately. The sleeves are worked in the round bottom up as far as the sleeve cap, which is finished back and forth. The pieces are sewn together and the bands sewn to the neckline at the back. BODY: Cast on 194-214-226-238-258-282 stitches with circular needle size 4.5 mm and DROPS Melody. Work rib from the right side as follows: 6 stitches according to BANDS WITH I-CORD – read description above, * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-* until there are 8 stitches left, knit 2 and 6 stitches according to bands with I-cord. Work this rib and the bands back and forth for 6 cm. Change to circular needle size 6 mm. Work stocking stitch and the bands as before. AT THE SAME TIME decrease 30-38-38-38-42-50 stitches evenly on the first row (do not decrease over the bands) = 164-176-188-200-216-232 stitches. Remember the BUTTONHOLES on the right band – read description above. Work until the piece measures 28-29-30-31-32-33 cm from the cast-on edge. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! DIVIDE FOR THE ARMHOLES: On the next row from the right side, divide for the armholes: Work the first 41-43-45-47-50-53 stitches as before (right front piece), cast off 6-8-10-12-14-16 stitches for the armhole, knit 70-74-78-82-88-94 (back piece), cast off 6-8-10-12-14-16 stitches for the armhole, work the remaining 41-43-45-47-50-53 stitches as before (left front piece). The front and back pieces are finished separately. LEFT FRONT PIECE: = 41-43-45-47-50-53 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch and band as before, working the first row from the wrong side. Cast off for the armhole at the beginning of each row from the armhole as follows: 2 stitches 1 time and 1 stitch 1-1-2-2-4-6 times, AT THE SAME TIME when the piece measures 31-32-32-33-34-35 cm decrease for the V-NECK – read description above. Decrease on each row from the right side, inside the band-stitches and 1 stocking stitch, a total of 14-14-15-15-16-16 times. When the decreases for the V-neck and armhole are finished there are 24-26-26-28-28-29 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm from the cast-on edge. At the beginning of the next row from the armhole, cast off the first 18-20-20-22-22-23 stitches, leaving the band stitches. Work these band-stitches back and forth for 11-11-11½-11½-12½-12½ cm. Cast off. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: = 41-43-45-47-50-53 stitches. Work in the same way as the left front piece. BACK PIECE: = 70-74-78-82-88-94 stitches. Work stocking stitch back and forth and cast off for the armholes, every 2nd row as follows: 2 stitches 1 time, and 1 stitch 1-1-2-2-4-6 times on both sides = 64-68-70-74-76-78 stitches. When the piece measures 48-50-52-54-56-58 cm, cast off the middle 26-26-28-28-30-30 stitches for the neckline and finish each shoulder separately. Continue with stocking stitch and cast off 1 stitch at the beginning of the next row from the neck = 18-20-20-22-22-23 stitches. Work until the piece measures 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm. Cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. SLEEVES: Cast on 52-52-56-60-64-68 stitches with double pointed needles size 4.5 mm and DROPS Melody. Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 6 cm. Change to double pointed needles size 6 mm. Knit 1 round and decrease 10-8-8-10-12-12 stitches evenly spaced = 42-44-48-50-52-56 stitches. Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round, allow it to follow your work onwards. Continue with stocking stitch. When the sleeve measures 9-9-8-8-8-9 cm, increase 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 2½-2½-2½-2½-2-1½ cm a total of 8-8-8-8-9-9 times = 58-60-64-66-70-74 stitches. Work until the sleeve measures 30-29-28-28-26-24 cm. On the next round cast off for the sleeve cap as follows: Start 3-4-5-6-7-8 stitches before the marker-thread, cast off 6-8-10-12-14-16 stitches = 52-52-54-54-56-58 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch back and forth, casting off at the beginning of each row on each side as follows: 3 stitches 4-3-2-2-3-3 times, then 2-2-2-2-1-1 stitches at the beginning of each row on each side until the sleeve measures 36 cm in all sizes. Cast off 3 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Cast off the remaining stitches. The sleeve measures approx. 37 cm in all sizes. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew the sleeves to the armholes. Sew the buttons onto the left band. Sew the bands together mid-back, then the bands to the neckline. |
