Hello, I like your pattern very much because you use two different yarns. But I want to ask you if I can use lima drops colour 4434 instead of kid silk. And if I can, please tell me the number of the needles I wil need. Thanks for answering my question.

Dear Helen, you can use Lima, but the result will be totally different, therefore I would suggest not too. With Kid Silk and Delight the shawl will be light, airy and with a halo effect due to the Kid Silk yarn, with Lima it will be dense, and heavy. Happy Knitting!

Hei!

Knitted shawl with garter stitch and picot edge. The piece is worked in DROPS Delight and DROPS Kid-Silk.

SHAWL: The piece is worked back and forth with circular needle. Cast on 9 stitches with 1 strand Kid-Silk and 1 strand Delight (= 2 strands) with circular needle size 6 mm. Work as follows: All stitches and yarn overs are knitted (yarn overs are not worked twisted, they will leave holes). ROW 1 (= right side): Knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit 3, 1 yarn over, knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit 3, 1 yarn over and knit 1 = 13 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle stitch. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit until there is 1 stitch left, 1 yarn over and knit 1 = 2 stitches increased. ROW 3: Knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit as far as the middle stitch, 1 yarn over, knit 1 (= middle stitch), 1 yarn over, knit until there is 1 stitch left, 1 yarn over and knit 1 = 4 stitches increased. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the piece measures approx. 28 cm measured along the middle stitch or to desired length. Loosely cast off with knit from the right side as follows: Knit 1, ((** insert the right needle between the first 2 stitches on the left needle (i.e. between the stitches on the needle, not through the stitches), make 1 yarn over the right needle, pull the yarn over through the stitches and place it on the left needle **, repeat from **-** 2 more times (= 3 new stitches on the left needle). * Knit the first stitch on the left needle, pass the first stitch on the right needle over the last stitch worked *)), repeat from *-* a total of 9 times and repeat from ((-)) along the whole of the edge until there is 1 stitch left, cut the strand and pull it through the last stitch. |
