Bonsoir.

Bon tricot!

At the end of the pattern, after working 6 rows of garter, and then binding off 1 stitch for 4 rows, do I bind off her. Or work 10 more rows and bind off? Thanks Cathy
27.12.2014 - 17:50DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Sinkeus, after 6 rows in garter st, work 4 more rows in garter st, at the same time, bind off 1 st at the beg of each of these 4 rows (= ie you will bind off 2 times 1 st in each side). You have worked a total of 10 rows in garter st, bind off all remaining sts. Happy knitting!

I am a new to knitting, and am enjoying knitting the slippers. Thanks for the free pattern. I'm curious what the length is for the medium sized pattern? I finished knitting to the 72 stitch mark and see that only 10 more rows are to be added? My foot is 9-1/2 inches - what would you suggest for the total length of my finished slipper prior to sewing it? Thank you for considering my many questions - kind regards,
14.01.2014 - 23:15DROPS Design answered:
Dear Lisa, if your tension is correct, then the medium size should work for you. After you get 72 sts, work 1 row, piece should measure 4 3/8”. Continue then in garter st binding off 1 st at the beg of next 4 rows (garter st will be underfoot part). Happy knitting!

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. INCREASE TIP: Inc 1 st on each side of the middle 2 sts by making 1 YO, on next row work the YOs twisted to avoid holes. -------------------------------------------------------- SLIPPER: Worked back and forth on needle from mid back, beg at the top and work downwards. Cast on 40-44-48 sts on needle size 4 mm with Snow. Work 8 rows in garter st over all sts. Insert a marker in middle of piece. Continue in stocking st but work first and last st in garter st – AT THE SAME TIME on 1st row in stocking st, inc 1 st on each side of the middle 2 sts - SEE INCREASE TIP. Repeat inc every row (i.e. from both RS and WS) a total of 13-14-16 times = 66-72-80 sts. Work 1 row after last inc. Now piece measures approx. 11-11-12 cm. Continue in garter st over all sts - at the same time after 6 rows in garter st, cast off 1 st at beg of the next 4 rows (i.e. 2 sts cast off in each side) = 62-68-76 sts. When a total of 10 rows in garter st have been worked, loosely cast off. ASSEMBLY: Sew seam under foot and up along mid back - sew edge to edge to avoid a chunky seam to walk on. Knit another slipper. |
