Work next row from RS: work the 9-11-11 sts in rib as before, then inside 1 edge st pick up 12-14-16 sts . I am needing to know the meaning of where it says work the sts in rib as before... then.... now my question is for how long do i knitt in rib as before before i begin picking up sts?
14.04.2016 - 15:18DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Barolet, before picking sts around, work 7.5-8-10 cm over the middle 9-11-11 sts (+ 2 sts inc on first row = 11-13-13 sts) - see also video below showing how to knit the whole slippers. Happy knitting!

I've tried to make these for my daughter who has size 10 (US) feet. The DPNs are not long enough for the length. How would I go about using circular needles for that part? Is it possible?? Thanks!

Dear Veronica, you can see in the video below how to work the slippers with dpn - then how to work with a circular needle with magic loop technique. Happy knitting!

Hoi Corrie.

Bon tricot!

The instructions say to cast on 36 sts but in the foot it says 9-11-11 and remaining 27-27- 29 how do you get these sts when you only cast on 36?
29.11.2015 - 05:10DROPS Design answered:
Dear mrs Goolsby, you cast on 36 sts for leg then work a few cm, and keep for mid upper foot the first 9 sts (leaving the 36-9=27 remaining sts unworked). See also video below. Happy knitting!

I am having difficulty understanding the instructions for the Loose cuff worked sideways: 1 st in GARTER ST -see explanation above, *K1, P1*, repeat from *_*, finish with K1 and 1 st in garter st. That is very confusing to me! Thanks.

Dear Mrs Lewis, you are working here in rib K1/P1 with 1 edge st in garter st on each side (knit first and last st on row every row). Happy knitting!

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. -------------------------------------------------------- SLIPPERS: LEG: Cast on 36-38-40 sts on double pointed needles size 6 mm with 1 thread medium grey or colour no 3720 medium pink and 1 thread grey mix. Work rib K 1/P 1 in the round until piece measures approx. 10 cm. FOOT: Now keep the first 9-11-11 sts on the round on the needle, slip the remaining 27-27-29 sts on a stitch holder. Continue with rib back and forth over the 9-11-11 sts - AT THE SAME TIME on 1st row cast on 1 new st in each side (edge st) = 11-13-13 sts. When 7-8.5-10 cm have been worked, cast off 1 edge st in each side = 9-11-11 sts. Then slip the sts from stitch holder back on needle and knit up 12-14-16 sts on each side of middle part (inside 1 edge st) = 60-66-72 sts on needle. Now measure piece from here. Insert 1 marker mid front of toe and 1 marker mid back on heel. Continue in the round with rib as before for 2 cm. Now finish the piece in stocking st - AT THE SAME TIME K 2 sts tog on each side of every marker on every other round (= 4 sts less per round) continue dec until stocking st section measures 3-3-4 cm – cast off. Sew tog seam mid under foot in outermost st to avoid a chunky seam. LOOSE CUFF WORKED ACROSS: Cast on 15-17-17 sts on needle size 6 mm with 1 thread medium grey and 1 thread grey mix. Work as follows: 1 st in GARTER ST - see explanation above, * K 1, P 1 *, repeat from *-*, finish with K 1 and 1 st in garter st. When piece measures 2 cm, cast off for 2 button holes as follows from RS: 1 st in garter st, K 1, P 1, slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, psso, 1 YO, * K 1, P 1 *, repeat from *-* until 5 sts remain, 1 YO, K 2 tog, P 1, K 1, 1 st in garter st. Continue with rib and in garter st in each side until piece measures approx. 36-37-38 cm. Cast off sts with K over K and P over P. Sew buttons on to cuff and button cuff tog. Slide cuff 2 cm down on foot with buttons on the outside of slipper and sew cuff to cast on edge on slipper from WS with invisible stitches. |
