Can you let me know how much merino extra fine I will need to use as one of the strands along with kid silk? Thank you

Dear Mrs Davis, you will read more about alternatives and how to calculate amount of yarn here - remember to always make first a swatch to check your tension and adjust needle size/number of strands Kid-Silk (you might have to use 2 strands Kid-Silk + 1 strand Merino Extra fine to get the correct tension). Happy knitting!

I’m wanting to init 407-42 I’ve bought the drops air wool which states knit using 5mm needles however the pattern states 9mm & 7mm\\r\\nI bought this whilst on holiday and the ladies did explain which needles to use but I can’t remember I’m a learner
10.05.2020 - 17:07DROPS Design answered:
Hi Vanessa, The use of larger needles will give you a looser fabric. If you use the 5 mm needles you will then have to adjust the number of stitches on to get the right measurements for your size. We recommend that you use the needles given in the pattern. Happy knitting!

A wciąż pozostało mi 2 i pół włóczki z 6 wymaganych.

Dodatkowy atut to lekkość gotowego ubrania. Powodzenia!

Bon tricot!

Knitted jumper in DROPS Melody. Piece is knitted with neck and English rib. Size: S - XXXL
DROPS 207-42 |
|||||||||||||
---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. KNITTING TIP: All numbers of stitches given when working English rib is without yarn over, because yarn overs belongs to knit stitch. Knit stitch and yarn over is counted together as 1 stitch. CAST-OFF TIP (applies to English rib): To avoid a tight cast-off edge cast off yarn over as a stitch. I.e. work yarn over as a stitch and then cast off as the other stitch. INCREASE TIP (applies to sleeves): Work until 1 stitch remains before marker thread, 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker thread is in the middle of these stitches), 1 yarn over. On next round knit yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work front and back piece separately back and forth on circular needle. Work sleeves in the round on double pointed needles/a short circular needle. BACK PIECE: Cast on 51-55-59-63-71-75 stitches (including 1 edge stitch in each side) on circular needle size 9 mm with Melody. Purl 1 row from wrong side. Work next row as follows from right side: Work 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above, work A.1 (= 2 stitches) until 2 stitches remain on needle, work A.2 (= 1 stitch), finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch - read KNITTING TIP. When A.1 and A.2 have been worked, work next row as follows from right side: Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, repeat A.3 (= 2 stitches) until 2 stitches remain on row, work A.4 (= 1 stitch) and finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue this pattern. Repeat A.3 and A.4 vertically. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm cast off for shoulder. Cast off 16-18-20-22-26-28 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows – read CAST-OFF TIP = 19 stitches remain on row for neck. Continue back and forth as before over these stitches and work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch in each side. Work until neck measures approx. 6 cm, cast off. Insert 1 marker in the each side, 16-17-18-19-20-21 cm down from shoulder. Markers mark where sleeves are sewn. FRONT PIECE: Cast on and work as back piece. SLEEVE: Cast on 40-40-44-44-48-48 stitches on double pointed needles size 6 mm with Melody. Knit 1 round. Then work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) for 4 cm. Switch to double pointed needles size 7 mm. Insert 1 marker at beginning of round, marker is used for increases later. Then work in stocking stitch - REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 38-38-37-35-32-31 cm, increase 2 stitches mid under sleeve - read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 3 cm 1-2-2-3-2-3 times in total = 42-44-48-50-52-54 stitches. Continue to work until piece measures 46-46-45-43-40-39 cm. Loosely cast off. Work the other sleeve the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew shoulder seams inside cast-off edges, and sew neck together in the side inside 1 edge stitch. Sew in sleeves inside 1 edge stitch (from marker to marker). Sew side seams inside 1 edge stitch. |
