INCREASE TIP: Inc 1 st each side of each marker like this: 1 YO, K1, marker, K1, 1 YO. On next round K YOs twisted (i.e. work in the back loop of st instead of front) to avoid holes. -------------------------------------------------------- SHORTS: Worked top down in the round on circular needle. Cast on 146-156-164-176-190 sts on circular needle size 3 mm with Cotton Light. Work 6 rounds in GARTER ST - see explanation above. Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm. Insert a marker at beg of round (= mid back) and a marker after 73-78-82-88-95 sts (= mid front). Continue to work stocking st in the round. When piece measures approx. 6 cm, switch back to circular needle size 3 mm. K 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME inc 14-20-24-32-38 sts evenly = 160-176-188-208-228 sts (NOTE! Make sure to inc same no of sts in each side between markers). Continue to work rib as follows: * P 2, K 2 *, repeat from *-*. Continue like this until rib measures approx. 2 cm. On next round, work belt loops as follows: Work rib over the first 17-25-21-21-21 sts, slip the next 4 sts (P 1, K 2, P 1) on a stitch holder, cast on 4 new sts behind sts on the stitch holder, work 20-20-24-28-32 sts in rib, slip the next 4 sts on a stitch holder, cast on 4 new sts behind sts on the stitch holder, work 20-20-24-28-32 sts in rib, slip the next 4 sts on a stitch holder, cast on 4 new sts behind sts on the stitch holder, work 20-20-24-28-32 sts in rib, slip the next 4 sts on a stitch holder, cast on 4 new sts behind sts on the stitch holder, work 20-20-24-28-32 sts in rib, slip the next 4 sts on a stitch holder, cast on 4 new sts behind sts on the stitch holder, work 20-20-24-28-32 sts in rib, slip the next 4 sts on a stitch holder, cast on 4 new sts behind sts on the stitch holder, work 16-24-20-20-20 sts in rib, slip the next 4 sts on a stitch holder (NOTE! the 4th st = 1st st on round), cast on 4 new sts behind sts on the stitch holder (= 7 x 4 sts (P 1, K 2, P 1) on stitch holders for belt loops). Continue with rib in the round until piece measures 6-6-6-7-7 cm from sts on stitch holders. Now work belt loops: slip 4 sts from one of the stitch holders on needle size 3 mm. Work back and forth as follows (from RS): 1 st in GARTER ST - see explanation above -, 2 sts in stocking st, 1 st in Garter st. Continue like this until same no of rows has been worked as no of rounds on rest of the piece. Slip the sts back on a stitch holder. When all the sts on the stitch holders have been worked this way, continue to work as follows: Work rib over the first 17-25-21-21-21 sts, * work next st and 1st st from stitch holder P tog, work next st and 2nd st from stitch holder K tog, work next st and 3rd st from stitch holder K tog and work next st and last st from stitch holder P tog *, work 20-20-24-28-32 sts in rib, repeat from *-*, work 20-20-24-28-32 sts in rib, repeat from *-*, work 20-20-24-28-32 sts in rib, repeat from *-*, work 20-20-24-28-32 sts in rib, repeat from *-*, work 20-20-24-28-32 sts in rib, repeat from *-*, work 16-24-20-20-20 sts in rib, repeat from *-* (NOTE! the last st = 1st st on round). Continue to work rib over all sts as before. Continue like this for approx. 2 cm (the entire rib measures 10-10-10-11-11 cm). Switch back to circular needle size 3.5 mm. Continue to work in stocking st for approx. 1 cm. Then continue in stocking st and work short rows back and forth to make the shorts higher in the back than in the front. This is done as follows: Work 9 sts past marker mid back, turn piece, slip 1st st as if to K and work 9 sts past the other side of marker, * turn piece, slip 1st st as if to K and work 9 sts further than on previous turn *, repeat from *-* until 34-32-26-28-30 sts remain mid front. Turn one last time to get on RS of piece. Continue to work in the round over all sts. When piece measures 3-4-4-5-6 cm from rib mid front (approx. 9-10-11-13-14 cm from rib mid back), inc on front and back - Read INCREASE TIP: Inc 1 st on each side of every marker (= 4 inc), repeat inc on every 6th round a total of 9 times = 196-212-224-244-264 sts. When piece measures 18-19-22-24-25 cm from rib mid front (inc are now done), cast off the first 5 sts on round, slip 88-96-102-112-122 sts on a stitch holder (= leg), leave the next 10 sts on the needle (= gusset), slip 88-96-102-112-122 sts on a stitch holder (= leg), cast off the remaining 5 sts. Cut the thread. Then work 9-10-11-12-13 cm in stocking st back and forth over the 10 sts on the needle for gusset. Cast off the 10 sts and sew them to the 10 sts that were cast off mid back. LEG: Slip the 88-96-102-112-122 sts from one of the stitch holders back on circular needle size 3.5 mm. Knit in addition up 20-22-24-26-29 sts along one side of the gusset = 108-118-126-138-151 sts. Continue to work stocking st in the round for approx. 8-8-9-9-10 cm. Switch to circular needle size 3 mm. Then work 6 rounds in Garter st. Then loosely cast off. Slip sts from the other stitch holder back on needle and work as on first leg. BELT: Cast on 14-14-14-16-16 sts on circular needle size 3 mm with Cotton Light. Work in GARTER ST - see explanation above - back and forth until belt measures approx. 125 to 175 cm. Cast off. |
