In the first repeat, when there should be 37 sts on needle, there are 2 sts extra,on each side of the middle stitch.Because M1b has not started yet technically, there is no space to knit a double decrease. When I knitted a double decrease in the mid of each first leaf, right on Row 1 of M1b,sts fell in place.I hope im right about this.

PATTERN: See diagram M.1. The diagram shows the pattern from RS. Fig. 1 shows how to work the beg of shawl. GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. INCREASE TIP: All inc are done from RS. Inc 4 sts on every row from RS until finished as follows: Inc 1 st at beg of row as follows: 3 sts in garter st, 1 YO. On next row P the YO. Inc 2 sts in the middle of piece as follows: 1 YO, 1 st in stocking st (= st with marker), 1 YO. On next row P the YOs. Inc 1 st at end of row as follows: 1 YO, 3 sts in garter st. On next row P the YO. --------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL: Worked back and forth on circular needle to make room for all the sts. The shawl is worked from neckline mid back and down. NOTE! Make sure to start with a new ball at beg of row and not in the middle of the shawl. Cast on 7 sts on circular needle size 3 mm with Alpaca. Insert a marker in the 4th st (= the middle of the shawl). Work first row as follows (from RS): 3 sts in garter st, 1 YO, K1, 1 YO, 3 sts in garter st = 9 sts. Continue to work in stocking st with 3 sts in garter st each side while AT THE SAME TIME inc 4 sts on each row from RS - Read INCREASE TIP! Continue like this until there are 17 sts on the needle. Remember the knitting tension! Continue as follows - beg from RS: 3 sts in garter st, 1 YO, M.1A, M.1C, 1 YO, K1 (= mid st), 1 YO, M.1A, M.1C and finish with 1 YO and 3 sts in garter st. Continue inc each side and in the middle of shawl - see Fig. 1. When M.1A-C has been worked 1 time vertically (= 37 sts), continue as follows: 3 sts in garter st, 1 YO, M.1A, M.1B over the next 10 sts, M.1C, 1 YO, K1 (= mid st), 1 YO, M.1A, M.1B over the next 10 sts, M.1C, 1 YO, 3 sts in garter st. Continue this pattern but every time M.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, work M.1B one extra time on each side of the middle. When piece measures approx. 64 cm mid back on shawl (adjust after one whole repetition), K 6 rows (continue with 4 inc on every other row). Cast off loosely. |
